Maddogs, Blue Sox & Reds Take Tuesday Wins

June 20, 2018/in News and Notes/by iclbaseball

Kennedy Wilson’s bases loaded double in the first inning proved to be enough when the Maddogs beat the Andre Chiefs 3-1 in Malden. Blaine McLean (1-0) picked up the win and Ricky Alexy got the save. Josh Desai (0-1) and Tim Dunphy faced the minimum 17 batters over the last 5.2 innings despite taking the loss. Leivi Ventura hit his second homer of the year for the Chiefs.

Taylor Ferguson went 4-for-4 with 3 RBI and two runs scored to pace the Lexington Blue Sox to an 8-3 win over the Somerville Royals at Trum Field. Richie Burgos hit his second home run in as many nights and had three hits. Julian Alvarez (2 RBI) and Derlin Tejada each added two hits for the Blue Sox. Matt Karis (1-0) pitched five innings for his first win of 2018. He struck out six and scattered six hits. Rob Caggiano had a solo homer for Somerville and Nick Valdoro and Andrew Ashworth each had an RBI single.

Mike Samko had three hits, that included two doubles, and four RBI’s to lead the Watertown Reds over the Wakefield Merchants 8-4 at Bentley University. Matt Horan (4-0) stayed perfect on the year going the distance and striking out nine. Dillon Koster had three of the Merchants’ seven hits.

On Wednesday, the Merchants host the Maddogs in Wakefield at 6:00 PM, the Blue Sox visit the Americans at Morelli at 7:30 PM, the Chiefs and Reds meet at Maplewood at 8:00 PM, and Alibrandis and the Royals battle at Trum Field in Somerville at 8:15 PM.
