The Stoneham Sabers, a baseball team founded by Player/Manager Angelo Colucci in 2011, entered their 14th season in 2024. The Sabers started in the Yawkey Baseball League, where they reached the playoffs every year except their inaugural year. They also made it to the league semifinals seven times. In 2022, they moved to the Boston Park League, and then to the Intercity League in 2023. They reached the ICL finals in their first year in the ICL.

In 2024, long-time Saber, Syed Ali joined the coaching staff as a player/coach. Syed is an intricate part of the coaching staff, managing with Colucci.

Coach Stefano Colucci, also known as Papa, and late Coach Joe Laurina, had a significant impact on the Sabers’ team and dedicated many years to coaching the team in the earlier years.

Coach Angelo Agiorgousis joined the Sabers’ staff in 2019 for several years and was a great addition to the coaching staff.

Colucci and former Coach Agiorgousis were part of the coaching staff that led the Yawkey League All-Stars to win the Eastern Massachusetts Baseball Classic in 2019. This was the last edition of the annual event, which was canceled due to COVID.

Papa & Agiorgousis continue to be an avid supporter of the team, along with the Laurina family.

The Sabers have used Recreation Park, Stoneham High School, Maplewood Park, and Peabody High School for their home games. The Sabers look forward to another year of exciting baseball!
