Alibrandis Takes Series Lead Over Wakefield, 9-0

Watertown, MA- Matt Horan tossed a complete game four hitter to get Alibrandis a 9-0 win over the Wakefield Merchants in game one of their best of three semifinal series at Victory Field on Wednesday night.

Alibrandis took early command scoring six runs in the bottom of the second inning. Teddy Dziuba led the way with three hits and two RBI’s and Dave Lightbody (2 doubles, 3 RBI), Mike Maguire, and Mark Addesa, added two hits each to lead the 14 hit offense.

Horan struck out seven batters. Scott Searles had two of the Merchants’ four hits. Mike Andrews worked four innings and took the loss.

Game two will be played tonight at Morelli Field in Melrose at 7:30 PM. If the Merchants win and force a game three, that game will be played on Friday at Victory Field at 7:30 PM.
