June 13, 2017/in News and Notes/by iclbaseball

2016 ICL Pitcher of the Year Bill Sullivan (2-0) struck out 14, and allowed just four hits, when the Watertown Reds beat the Blue Sox 4-1 in Lexington. The 5-1 Reds scored all of their runs in the top of third inning off Jimmy Hill (0-2) on RBI’s from Casey Santos Ocampo, Will Brennan, Dan Chaisson and Mike Samko. Julian Alvarez drove in the only Lexington run when the Blue Sox took a 1-0 first inning lead.

Josh Desai (1-0) and Andrew Chin combined on a four-hitter to lead the Andre Chiefs to a 3-1 win over the Melrose Americans at Maplewood. Chin went four innings, striking out four, and allowing four hits, while Desai didn’t surrender a hit and struck out four over the final three innings. Matt Nuzzo, with a solo homer, Mike Barbati and Shane Stande had the Chiefs’ RBI’s. The Americans’ duo of Shawn Smeglin and Zeke Berg only allowed three hits.

At Endicott College, veteran Johnny Hayes went 3 for 3, and Darren Hartwell added a couple of hits, when the Reading Bulldogs beat the Arlington Trojans 2-1 in eight innings. Colby Morris went the first five innings, striking out five, for the Bulldogs before giving way to Alex Mandrus and finally Max Mardany (1-0) , who went the final two innings to record the win. Andrew Hamel went the first six innings for the Trojans, before yielding to Evan Walsh (0-2) who took the loss. The Bulldogs outhit the Trojans 10-8 in the game and stole four bases.

The Somerville Royals host the Chiefs at Trum Field at 8:15 PM in the only ICL game that is scheduled for Tuesday.
