Burke Gets 3rd Win for Reading Bulldogs
In Thursday’s lone game, Jack Burke became the first ICL pitcher in 2016 to get his third win when the Reading Bulldogs knocked off the Arlington Trojans 7-1 at Endicott College in Beverly. Burke, who raised his record to a perfect 3-0, went six innings, struck out nine, and allowed six hits. Johnny Hayes had a couple of RBI and Zac Talis had two hits and an RBI to lead the Bulldogs, who jumped out to a 4-0 first inning lead and never looked back. There are two games on Friday’s agenda. The Chiefs travel to Summer Street Field in Arlington to visit the Trojans at 7:00 PM and the Bulldogs are right back at Endicott for an 8:00 PM date with the Wakefield Merchants.
Chiefs, Reds & Blue Sox Win on Wednesday
Mitchell Clegg threw six innings of two-hit baseball, striking out seven, when the Chiefs held on to beat the Trojans 3-2 at Maplewood. Mike Andre, Danny DiMare, and Ryan Sonberg had RBI singles for the Chiefs. Mike Burgoyne had a single and a triple and Jordan Pallazola had two doubles. Mark Webber had both hits off Clegg for Arlington. In Melrose, Aric Dama picked up his second win of the year to pitch the Watertown Reds to a 6-3 win over the Americans at Morelli Field. Dan Chaisson and Will Brennan each had a homer for the Reds and Justin Forman added a couple of hits. Lemarre Rey recorded his second save. In Wednesday’s third game, the Lexington Blue Sox knocked off the Somerville Royals 6-2 at Trum Field in Somerville. On Thursday, the Trojans travel to Endicott College to meet the Reading Bulldogs at 8:00 PM
Arlington Nips Somerville
The Arlington Trojans edged the Somerville Royals at Trum Field 5-4 in the only iCL game played on Tuesday night. Jake Cintolo had three hits, including a double, for the Royals. On Wednesday, the Melrose Americans host the Reds at Morelli Field at 7:45 PM, the Royals and Blue Sox meet at Trum at 8:15 PM, and the Trojans visit the Chiefs at Maplewood in Malden, also at 8:15 PM.
Reds Beat Merchants, Chiefs Rally, Voitik Hits 2nd HR in Blue Sox Win
Dan Chaisson, Pete Burgio, and Mike Samko (triple), had two hits each to lead the Watertown Reds to a 10-4 win over the Wakefield Merchants at Bentley University on Monday night. Mac Jacobson and Ryan Pocock each had a double and two RBI and Will Brennan added a triple for the Reds. Jonathan Bishop (1-1) went five innings, struck out seven, and allowed just two hits, to get the win. Chris Hendrix and Matt Horan each tossed a scoreless inning of relief. Scott Searles and Mike Sorrentino both had a couple of hits for the Merchants. At Maplewood, the Chiefs overcame a 4-0 Melrose lead in the first inning and scored 14 times in the bottom of the sixth to take a 17-5 win. Rookie Anthony DeSouza (1-0) picked up his first ICL win, striking out five in just two innings. Jared Freni had 10 K’s in his five innings of no decision work. Catcher Jordan Pallazola had a big three hit night at the plate which included two doubles, four RBI’s, and his first ICL homer. Mike Burgoyne and Danny DiMare also had three hits each for the Chiefs. Veteran Mike Adessa had two hits for the Americans. Tony Annino (1-0) got the win and Chris Law chalked up the save when the Lexington Blue Sox held off a seventh inning rally to edge the Reading Bulldogs 4-3 at Endicott College in Beverly. Alex Voitik (pictured above) hit his second homer of the season for the Blue Sox. Hank Oringer and Johnny Hayes had two hits apiece for the Bulldogs. Max Mardany (0-1) took the loss. On Tuesday, the Somerville Royals host the Arlington Trojans at Trum Field at 8:15 PM.
