Reds & Blue Sox Prevail in Tuesday’s ICL Action
The Watertown Reds got two home runs from Will Brennan on the way to beating the Melrose Americans 10-3 at Morelli Field. Bill Sullivan (4-0) picked up the win for the Reds. At Trum Field, Tony Annino (2-1) threw 5.1 strong innings of relief, striking out 10, to lead the Lexington Blue Sox to a 6-1 win over the Somerville Royals. Thomas Russo and Frank Frias each had a two run single for the Blue Sox. Wyatt Stanley (1-2) took the loss.
Blue Sox & Chiefs in Monday Wins
Justin Silvestro’s two run single in the bottom of the fifth inning was the key hit when the Blue Sox edged the Reading Bulldogs 3-2 in Lexington. Matt Karis (1-1) went six strong innings to get the win and Chris Law recorded his fourth save of the year. Mike DeDonato had an RBI triple and Kyle Devin added two hits for the Bulldogs. Wayne Lundgren (3-2) took the loss. At Maplewood, the Chiefs scored three times in the bottom of the fifth inning to break a 1-1 tie and beat the Trojans 4-1. Mitchell Clegg (3-3) outdueled Evan Walsh to get the complete game win. Mike Burgoyne led the Chiefs’ offense with two hits, including a two RBI double, and two runs scored. On Tuesday, the Americans host the Watertown Reds at Morelli Field in Melrose at 7:30 PM and the Blue Sox visit the Somerville Royals at Trum Field at 8:15 PM.
Sunday Recap: Reds Sweep, Bulldogs, Sox & Royals Win
The Watertown Reds swept a doubleheader against the Wakefield Merchants at Walsh Field, taking the first game 9-2 and then winning the nightcap 11-4. In Reading, the Bulldogs rallied for five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to come back and beat the Andre Chiefs 8-7. Mike DeDonato had two hits and two RBI’s for Reading and Peter Copa hit a three run homer for Andre. The Lexington Blue Sox shutout the Americans 5-0 in Melrose. Borja Jones Berasaluce (2-0) got the win for the Blue Sox. At Trum Field, Jake Cintolo went four for four, including two doubles, and Cal Carroll (1-0) picked up the win, when the Somerville Royals beat the Arlington Trojans 8-5.
Blue Sox Win on Thursday, Bulldogs & Trojans Chalk Up Friday Scores
Jeff Vigurs had four hits, including two doubles, to lead the Blue Sox to a 9-4 win over the Arlington Trojans on Thursday night in Lexington. Justin Silvestro and Kevin Davis each added two hits as Drew Leenhouts (3-1) picked up the win. On Friday, Kyle Devin had two RBI’s, Mike DeDonato two doubles, and Harry Oringer two hits, to help get the Reading Bulldogs past the Melrose Americans 6-4 at Endicott College. Mike Curtis (2-0) got the win with 3.1 innings and Zac Levine was credited with his first save. Also on Friday, the Somerville Royals edged the Trojans 4-3 at Summer Street Field. There are no ICL games on Saturday.
