Chiefs Get Wednesday Win as ICL Heads to Fourth of July Break

Max Burgoyne (grandson of Americans Manager Kevin Burgoyne) and Leo Andre (grandson of Chiefs’ GM Chuck Andre) were recently overheard discussing the future of the Intercity League. Max (in purple) and Leo (in yellow) got together after their game on Saturday where they both enjoyed a medal winning day in the Medford t-ball league. Although rumors have been widely circulating that both Max and Leo have been heavily recruited by Lexington Blue Sox boss Rick DeAngelis, it is reported that the duo have already committed to anchor the Americans’ and Chiefs’ infields starting in the 2036 season.

Four Expos’ Hurlers 3-Hit Bulldogs 8-1

The front running Sabertooth Expos stayed hot, winning their tenth game in eleven starts, when they beat the Lexington Bulldogs 8-1 on Friday night at Lexington High. The Expos used four pitchers to limit the Bulldogs to just three hits. Ethan Collins (2 innings), Hadniel Payamps (1 inning), and Bladamir Ramirez and Ryan Cloutier with two innings each, combined to strike out 13 batters. Payamps (1-0), who worked the third inning, picked up the win. Matt Consigli had two hits and a couple RBI’s and Cloutier scored three runs and added two hits and an RBI to lead the Expos offense. There are no ICL games scheduled on Saturday. Play resumes on Sunday when the Lexington Blue Sox visit the Melrose Americans at Morelli Field starting at 4:00 PM.

Americans Beat Blue Sox 5-3, Expos Get 9th Win

Noah Jankowski drove in two runs and John Jennings added an RBI double to lead the Melrose Americans to a 5-3 win over the Blue Sox on Thursday evening in Lexington. Nick Colucci (1-1) picked up the win with two innings of scoreless relief. Closer Bobby Tramondozzi blanked the Blue Sox in the seventh to record the save. Julian Alvarez hit his third homer of the year for Lexington in the bottom of the third inning. Pat McGowan (0-2) took the loss in relief of starter Eric Lopes. At Maplewood, Andrew Mazzone (3-3, 3 RBI) and Leon Paulino both homered to pace the Sabertooth Expos’ 13-hit offense in a 12-2 win over the Malden Maddogs. George Chava and Tommy Schimchak each drove home a couple of runs each for the Expos. Zach Zirby (4 innings, 9K’s) and Nick Johnson (2 innings,, 5 K’s) combined to strike out 14 batters in the shortened six inning game. Kirby picked up the win and is now 2-0 on the season. On Friday, the 9-1 Expos travel to Lexington High at 7:00 PM to meet the Bulldogs. There are no ICL games scheduled on Saturday. The Blue Sox and Americans will meet in a rematch on Sunday at 4:00 PM at Morelli Field in Melrose.

Expos and Chiefs Both Record 5-1 Wednesday Wins

Dan Shaw, with relief help from Hadneil Payamps and Ryan Cloutier who each threw a scoreless inning, got the win when the Sabertooth Expos beat the Melrose Americans 5-1 at Trum Field on Wednesday night. Shaw (1-1) allowed just three hits over the first five innings to grab the win. Andrew Mazzone and Tommy Schimchak led the Expos with a pair of RBI’s each. Pat Costigan drove in the lone Melrose run in the top of the fourth inning. The second 5-1 win of the night belonged to the Andre Chiefs who knocked off the Malden Maddogs at Maplewood. Lefty Josh Desai (1-0) went four inning to get the win.  The Chiefs trio of Relfin Jiminez (0.2 innings, 2 K’s), Jon Matos (1.1 innings, 3 K’s), and Cameron Breault (1 inning, 2 K’s) held the Maddogs scoreless over the final three frames. Juan Parra and Ryan Noone (triple) each had two hits and an RBI for the Chiefs. ICL action continues on Thursday with a pair of 8:00 PM games. The Expos and Maddogs meet at Maplewood and the Americans visit the Blue Sox at Lexington High.
