Chiefs Get Wednesday Win as ICL Heads to Fourth of July Break

Expos and Bulldogs Take Tuesday Night Wins

Leon Paulino drove in two runs and Ryan Cloutier and Matt Consigli had an RBI each in a 4-1 Sabertooth Expos win over the Blue Sox in Lexington on Tuesday night. David Kerns (1-0) went six strong innings to grab the win while Jack Sarno, who struck out the side in the seventh inning, chalked up his first save of the season. Borja Jones-Bersaluce (0-1), in relief of Chris Winat (4 innings, 1 hit, 3 K’s) and Steven Bangs (0.2) innings, took the loss. Bryan Acosta drove home the lone Blue Sox run in the bottom of the fifth. With the win the first place Expos move to 7-1 on the year. The Lexington Bulldogs rode the strong pitching of Vincent Loguidice to gain a 3-1 win over the Malden Maddogs at Maplewood. Loguidice (1-1) went six innings, allowing six hits while striking out six. Josh Garner threw a scoreless seventh, with two K’s, to record the save. Patrick Solomon led the Bulldogs offense with two hits, two RBI’s, and two stolen bases. On Wednesday the Maddogs visit the Andre Chiefs at Maplewood and the Expos entertain the Melrose Americans at Trum Field in Somerville. Both games will start at 8:00 PM.

Chiefs and Americans Get Monday Wins

Seven pitchers combined on a 3-hitter when the Andre Chiefs beat the Lexington Blue Sox 8-2 at Maplewood on Monday night. Cal Carroll, Shai Cohen, Jonathan Richard, Relfin Jiminez, A.J Rourke, Jon Matos, and Cameron Breault all threw an inning each and combined to strike out 11 batters. Richard (1-0), who pitched the third inning, picked up the win. Ryan Noone (3 RBI’s, 2 hits), Juan Parra (3 hits, 3 runs scored) and Tyler Ferdinand and Andrew Caulfield with two RBI’s apiece, led the Chiefs. Robbie Cobb (0-1) took the loss for the Blue Sox. The Melrose Americans overcame a 1-0 first inning deficit and scored 11 unanswered runs on the way to an 11-1 win over the Lexington Bulldogs at Lexington High. Aidan Barry’s three run homer, Jack Beverly, with three hits and a couple RBI’s, and Pat Costigan, Shawn Nestor, and Eric Paradis, with two hits each, led the Melrose 14 hit attack. Harper Flint (1-0) struck out nine batters in just four innings to grab his first win of the season. Ben Gottesman (2 innings) and Bobby Tramondozzi (1 inning) kept the Bulldogs off the board over the final three frames. Starter Cole Velis (1-2) took the loss. ICL action continues on Tuesday with the Malden Maddogs hosting the Bulldogs at Maplewood and the Sabertooth Expos and Blue Sox hooking up in Lexington. Both games are scheduled at 8:00 PM.

Johnson K’s 13 as Expos Rally Past Chiefs 7-3

The Sabertooth Expos rallied from a 3-0 fifth inning deficit to rally past the Andre Chiefs 7-3 on Friday night at Trum Field in Somerville. Leon Paulino’s three run homer and Matt Consigli’s two run double keyed the Expos comeback as they scored five times in the bottom of the fifth and then added a couple of more runs in the home half of the sixth inning. Nick Johnson was dominant after giving up the three first inning runs. He shut the Chiefs down over the final six frames striking out 13 batters. Johnson, now 3-0, has struck out 42 batters in 21 innings so far this season. Chiefs starter Evan Walsh was cruising through the first four innings before the Expos got to him in the fifth. Walsh (1-1) had 11 strikeouts of his own before yielding to Jonathan Chotkowski who worked the sixth for the Chiefs. Juan Parra, Miles Reid, and Andrew Caulfield, with a two RBI double, all had a couple of hits each for the Chiefs. There are no ICL games scheduled on Saturday or Sunday. Play resumes on Monday when the Bulldogs host the Melrose Americans in Lexington at 7:00 PM and the Blue Sox visit the Chiefs at Maplewood starting at 8:00 PM.

Blue Sox and Expos Win on Thursday Night

The Blue Sox unleashed a 20 run barrage and abruptly ended the Andre Chiefs four game winning streak with a 20-3 win in Lexington on Thursday night. Dom Zaher’s first inning grand slam and Julian Alvarez’s second inning three run shot helped in getting the Sox out to a 17-0 lead. Ernie Little (2 doubles) and Anderson Jimenez both had three hits for Lexington. Steven Bangs (2-0) picked up the win in relief of starter Eric Lopes. Andrew Caulfield provided the majority of the Chiefs 11 hit offense with a two run homer in the fifth inning. At Maplewood, Zach Kirby (1-0) struck out eight in 4.2 innings to get the win when the Sabertooth Expos knocked off the Malden Maddogs 11-5. Matt Consigli and Ryan Cloutier led the Sabertooth attack with three RBI’s apiece. Cloutier worked the final 2.1 innings, striking out four batters,  in relief of Kirby. The Chiefs visit the Expos at Trum Field in Somerville at 8:00 PM in the only game on Friday’s schedule.
