Chiefs Get Wednesday Win as ICL Heads to Fourth of July Break

Blue Sox Edge Americans 7-6 in Lone Friday Game

The Blue Sox broke a 6-6 tie and when they scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning on the way to a 7-6 win over the Melrose Americans on Friday night in Lexington. Ernie Little reached on a bunt single to start the sixth. He stole second and took third on an infield out and came home on a throwing error with the winning run. Lexington scored six runs over the first three innings for a 6-4 lead. The Sox got RBI from Julian Alvarez and Andrew Selima in the first, Josue Feliciano in the second, and Matt Chatelle and Chris Aufiero drove in runs in the third. Aidan Freeburg (1-0) pitched a 1-2-3 sixth for his first win since 2016. Brendan King earned his first save. Aidan Barry doubled in two runs in the third to give Melrose a 4-3 lead. Jack Beverly and Scott Serles drove in the runs in the fifth for the Americans to knot the game at 6-6. Nick Colucci (1-2) took the loss in relief. The Americans-Blue Sox tilt was the only ICL game on the Friday schedule. The league is off on Saturday. Play will resume on Sunday at 4:00 PM when the Americans host the Middlesex Expos at Morelli Field.

Expos Walk-Off Blue Sox in Extra Innings, 6-5

Jose Paulino’s ground ball with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning proved to be the difference when the Middlesex Expos edged the Lexington Blue Sox 6-5 on Thursday night at Brandeis University. The Expos pitching duo of Junior Montero (4 innings) and winner Ryan Cloutier (4 innings) allowed just one hit but walked seven Blue Sox as the Expos committed three errors. Montero and Cloutier (1-1) struck out six batters each. Gavin Dauer (2-2) took the loss in relief of Jake Vesling, who went the first five frames, and Aidan Freeburg, who worked the sixth. One game is on the ICL agenda for Friday when the Blue Sox entertain the Melrose Americans at Lexington High starting at 8:00 PM.

Mitchell Gets 5th Win for Americans, Expos Beat Bulldogs

Chris Mitchell went 4.2 innings to get his league best fifth win when the Melrose Americans beat the Malden Maddogs 6-2 at Morelli Field. Aidan Barry led the Americans with two hits and two RBI’s while Gianni Zarrilli chipped in with a couple of hits and an RBI. Mitchell, now 5-1, struck out four and allowed just three hits. Jack McLaughlin (1-3) took the loss. In Wednesday’s other game the Middlesex Expos knocked off the Reading Bulldogs 9-6. The Expos host the Lexington Blue Sox at Brandeis University in tonight’s only game starting at 8:15 PM.

Blue Sox and Expos Take Tuesday Wins

Cam Myers drove in five runs, including a three run homer, to lead the Blue Sox to a 12-5 win over the Andre Chiefs in Lexington. John Fritz added three RBI’s as the Blue Sox unleashed a 17 hit offense. Ryan Noone drove home three of the Chiefs five runs. Gavin Dauer (2-1) picked up the win as Lexington sent six different pitchers to the mound. Chiefs’ starter Paul Frisoli (1-1) took the loss. At Maplewood, the Middlesex Expos used two homers from Leon Paulino and single dingers from Mike Golankiewicz and Dionys Quezada (4 RBI’s) on the way to a 15-5 win over the Malden Maddogs. Dan Shaw (1-1) went five innings and struck out six to gain the win. On Wednesday, the Maddogs and Melrose Americans meet at Morelli Field at 7:30 PM and Expos host the Reading Bulldogs at Brandeis at 8:15 PM.
