Johnson 3-Hitter Gets Expos 4th Straight Win

Nick Johnson fired a complete game three-hit shutout when the defending champion Sabertooth Expos blanked the Malden Maddogs 3-0 on Thursday night at Maplewood. It was  the only game on the ICL schedule. Idelson Tavares had three of the Expos six hits, including a double, and Ethan Hillenberg added two hits and drove in a run for the winners. Johnson struck out 14 batters in the game. He raised his 2023 record to 2-0 and has not allowed a run in 14 innings, giving up just five hits while striking out 29. He opened the season with a 15 strikeout two-hitter against the Lexington Bulldogs on May 31. All ICL teams will be in action on Saturday at Lexington High during the annual Jerie DeAngelis Memorial Day of Baseball. The Malden Maddogs and Andre Chiefs will meet at 12:00 noon, the Expos and Lexington Blue Sox hook up at 2;30 PM and the Melrose Americans and Bulldogs play the nightcap at 5:00 PM.

Chiefs Walk-Off Bulldogs in 8th, Expos Edge Americans 2-1

Juan Parra’s one out solo homer in the bottom of the seventh inning tied it and John Bapista’s single in the eighth won it when the Andre Chiefs beat the Lexington Bulldogs 6-5 at Maplewood on Wednesday night. Parra drove in three of the Chiefs runs in the game and Bapista had two hits and two RBI’s. Teddy Dziuba and Ryan Noone each contributed two hits to the Chiefs 14 hit offense. Lefty Josh Desai went the first six innings, striking out nine, before giving way to AJ Rourke (1-0) who worked two scoreless frames to chalk up the win. In Melrose, Jay Gamboa (1-0) went five strong innings to gain the win and Dan Shaw chalked up the two inning save when the Sabertooth Expos took their third straight win 2-1 over the Americans at Morelli Field. Matt Consigli (RBI) and Nick Solitro had the only hits the Expos needed in the game. Six Melrose pitchers combined to limit the Expos to two hits with Nick Colucci (0-1) taking the hard luck loss. Cory Bright drove in the lone Melrose run in the third inning. On Thursday, the Expos visit the Malden Maddogs at Maplewood at 8:00 PM

Blue Sox Beat Maddogs 5-2

Andrew Selima drove in two runs and Julian Alvarez and Craig Corliss had doubles when the Lexington Blue Sox beat the Malden Maddogs 5-2 on Tuesday night at Maplewood.  Steven Bangs (1-0), the second of five pitchers the Blue Sox used, picked up the win while striking out five batters in his two innings. On Wednesday, the Expos visit the Melrose Americans at Morelli Field at 7:30 PM and the Andre Chiefs host the Blue Sox at Maplewood at 8:00 PM.

Expos Beat Chiefs 10-4, Americans-Blue Sox PPD

The Sabertooth Expos won their second straight game when they beat the Andre Chiefs 10-4 on Monday night at Maplewood. Matt Consigli and Ryan Cloutier both homered to lead the Expos offense. The pitching trio of Zack Kirby (3 inn), Bladamir Ramirez (1-0, 2 inn) and Cloutier (2 inn) combined to strike out a dozen batters. The Melrose Americans at Lexington Blue Sox game was postponed due to wet grounds. The Blue Sox will visit the Malden Maddogs in Tuesday’s only game. Starting time is 8:00 PM at Maplewood.
