Chiefs Get Wednesday Win as ICL Heads to Fourth of July Break

Chiefs Rally to Take 5-4 Walk Off Over Expos

Teddy Dziuba had a third inning solo homer and a game tying two out two RBI double in the seventh inning to lead the Andre Chiefs to a dramatic 5-4 come from behind eight inning win over the Middlesex Expos at Maplewood on Monday night. The Chiefs scored three times in the seventh to erase a 4-1 Expos lead and tie the game at 4-4. They won it an inning later on a Ryan Noone leadoff triple and a Kyle DeRoma sacrifice fly. Veteran righty Anthony Del Prete (1-0), the fourth Chiefs pitcher of the night, picked up the win throwing two innings of one-hit shutout relief. Ryan Cloutier (0-1) took the loss. On Tuesday, the Chiefs meet the Blue Sox in Lexington and the Expos visit the Malden Maddogs at Maplewood. Both games will start at 8:00 PM.

Barry (5 RBI’s), Americans Edge Maddogs 10-9

Aidan Barry had a huge game with a homer, four hits, and five RBI’s to lead the Americans to a wild 10-9 win over the Malden Maddogs on Sunday afternoon in Melrose. Pat Costigan, John Jennings, and Mike Nestor all contributed two hits to the Americans’ 15 hit offense. The Americans took a 4-0 first inning lead only to see the Maddogs put up eight runs in the top of the fifth to move in front 9-5. The furious Melrose comeback started with three runs in the sixth and they added a couple more in the bottom of the seventh when the walked off with the win. Quinton Copeland had three of the Maddogs’ dozen hits. Nick Colucci (1-1) picked up the win with 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.

Blue Sox Beat Bulldogs 3-1 in Friday’s Only ICL Game

Dom Zaher’s two-run single gave the Blue Sox a 3-0 lead and led them to a 3-1 win over the Reading Bulldogs on Friday night in Lexington. Eric Lopes (1-0) made his first start for Lexington and responded with five shutout innings and a team season-high 10 strikeouts. A John Fritz line drive single drove in the first Blue Sox run in the fifth. Pat Solomon’s two-out double drove in Josh Garner with the lone Reading run. Greg Gentile (1-1) took the loss in relief for the Bulldogs. In two innings he gave up five hits and three runs. Manny Delcarmen chalked up his fifth save of the season. There were no other ICL games played on Friday.

Blue Sox Beat Americans, Chiefs Edge Expos

Eli Perez’ two-run single in the sixth inning broke open a 2-2 tie and led the Blue Sox to a 5-2 win over the Melrose Americans in Lexington on Thursday night. Pinch-runner Ernie Little and Alex Voitik scored on Perez’ single. Jake Vesling started for Lexington and pitched 5+ innings, giving up two hits, an unearned run, and struck out three. Despite giving up a run, Borja Jones-Berasaluce (2-0) picked up the win in relief. Manny Delcarmen closed out the seventh for his fourth save. Scott Searles and Jack Beverly drove in the Melrose runs. At Brandeis, Teddy Dziuba had two hits, including a double, and drove home two runs to lead the Andre Chiefs past the Middlesex Expos 5-4. Andrew Caulfield added a couple of hits and Juan Parra and Ryan Noone both had RBI’s for the Chiefs. Paul Frisoli chalked up the win with four innings of six strikeout, two-hit relief. Frisoli (1-0) came on for Chiefs’ starter Cal Carroll who worked the first three innings. The Reading Bulldogs meet the Blue Sox in Lexington at 8:00 PM in tonight’s only game.
