Monico Throws 1-Hitter for Chiefs, Sox Blank Boston Padres, Maddogs Edge ADSL

Dominic Monico came within one strike of a no-hitter when the Andre Chiefs shutout the Al Thomas A’s 5-0 at Maplewood on Monday. Monico, now 3-0, sruck out 12 and walked just one. Sam Browning broke up the no-hit bid with a two out, two strike, double in the top of the seventh. Ruben Rodriguez Jr and Michael Soares each had two hits and two RBI’s…..A.J. Lasko hit a three run homer to lead the Lexington Blue Sox to a 5-0 blanking of the Boston Padres at Cleveland Circle. Michael O’Brien (1-0) went four innings to get the win. He got relief help from Cole Donato (2 innings) and Josh Becker (1 inning). The trio combined to strike out a dozen…..In other games, the Malden Maddogs beat ADSL 8-6 at Town Field and the Melrose Americans lost to the E.I. Braves 8-6 at Morelli, despite a two-run homer from Ted Giardina and three hits from Owen Duggan….

Americans and Expos Grab Sunday Wins

The first place Melrose Anericans jumped out to 4-0 fourth inning lead then held on to beat the Al Thomas A’s 5-3 at Cunningham Park in Milton on Sunday. Pat Costigan and Shaun MacPhee led the way each going 3-3 and driving in two runs apiece. Alex Parisi (2-0) picked up the win with a complete game six-hitter. For the 11-3-1 Americans, it was their seventh win in their last eight games…..The Middlesex Expos overcame a 4-0 first inning deficit to go on and beat the Boston Padres 5-4 in extra innings at Center Street Field in Burlington. Nick Hart turned in a 7.2 inning relief effort giving up just two hits while striking out a dozen. A sacrifice fly off the bat of Imano Ramos gave the Expos the walk-off win in the bottom of the eighth inning…….The Lexington Bulldogs at McKay Club Beacons game was postponed and rescheduled for July 24…

Draper (Immaculate 2nd Inning) Pitches Blue Sox Past BPL’s Palmer Club, 12-3

Matt Draper dominated the Palmer Club as he was perfect through four innings, taking a  a no-hitter into the seventh, when the Blue Sox knocked off the Palmer Club 12-3 in Lexington on Friday night. Draper (3-1) finished with a two-hitter and a Blue Sox career-best 12 strikeouts. Draper pitched an immaculate inning in the second when he struckout the side on nine pitches. Jake McElroy hit his first home run of the season and finished with 2 hits, 2 RBI and 2 runs. Will Norris had 3 RBI on a double and a sac fly. Erick Ramirez had 2 runs, 2 hits (doubles), 2 RBI. It was only ICL game played on Friday.

Blue Sox and Expos Win, Americans and Maddogs Suffer Inter-League Losses

Seventh inning singles from Erick Ramirez and Nick Anderson brought the Lexington Blue Sox back from a two run defecit and propelled them to a 7-5 comeback win over ADSL at Town Field. Ramirez drove in three runs on the night and Jake McElroy added two doubles and Julian Alvarez hit a two-run homer in the top of the first. Josh Becker (2-0) fired two innings of shutout ball to get his second win…..The Melrose Americans saw their six game winning streak snapped in a 14-9 loss to Mass Envelope/GM at Fallon Field. Aidan Lynch had a triple and three RBI’s for Melrose…..In other games, the Middlesex Expos won their third straight with a 15-5 victory over the Brighton Black Sox at Ferullo Field and the E.I. Braves beat the Malden Maddogs 6-1 at Maplewood…..
