Americans Win 5-2, Frisoli (15 K’s) 3-Hits Middlesex in 5-1 Alibrandis Win

Bobby Losanno had a double, two singles, two RBI, and stole four bases, to lead the Melrose Americans to a 5-2 win over the Reading Bulldogs in a make-up game played Friday at Austin Prep. It was the Americans’ sixth straight win. Colin Jaena (2-1) went four innings to get the win while Bobby Tramondozzi picked up his fourth save. Tyler Cedeno had two doubles for the Bulldogs. Paul Frisoli threw a complete game three-hitter, striking out 15, when Alibrandis knocked off the Middlesex Expos 5-1 at Trum. Michael Maguire had three of Alibrandis ten hits while Gordie Gronkowski, Ted Zupkus and Tyler Ferdinand all had doubles. There are no ICL games scheduled on Saturday.

Dunphy Pitches Chiefs to 1-0 Win Over Middlesex Expos

Lefty Tim Dunphy (1-2) threw a complete game three-hitter when the Andre Chiefs edged the Middlesex Expos 1-0 at Maplewood on Thursday night. Adam Johnson scored the game’s only run in the bottom of the fourth when he reached on an error and scored on Joe Bova’s RBI single. Dunphy faced just three batters in six of the seven innings as the Chiefs turned two double plays and picked a runner off. Ryan Qualey (1-1) was the hard luck loser as he allowed just two hits, struck out nine, and gave up one unearned run. On Friday, the Reading Bulldogs host the Melrose Americans in a make-up game at Austin Prep at 6:45 PM and Expos host Alibrandis at Trum Field in Somerville at 8:30 PM.

Blue Sox Shutout Expos 12-0, Americans Win 5th Straight

Southpaw Ryan O’Rourke (5-0) allowed just four hits and struck out 11 in six innings when the Blue Sox cruised past the Middlesex Expos 12-0 in Lexington on Wednesday night. The Blue Sox broke open a 2-0 game when they scored five times in each of the fifth and sixth innings. Dahiandy Johnson had a three-run homer in the fifth and Ryan Grace added a two RBI double in the sixth. Dan Shaw (0-1) took the loss. In Melrose, the Americans erased a 3-1 fifth inning Andre Chiefs lead and went on to a 6-4 win at Morelli Field. Pat Costigan homered, Keenan O’Connor had two RBI’s, and leadoff man Bobby Losanno added a couple of hits for the Americans who won their fifth straight. Nick Colucci (1-0), in relief of Brendan McSorley, worked 1.2 innings to get the win while Bobby Tramondozzi chalked up his third save of the season in the seventh. Nate Witkowski (3-4) had two doubles and three RBI’s for the Chiefs. Graham Seed (2-2) suffered the loss. On Thursday the Chiefs host the Expos at Maplewood (Malden Catholic) at 8:00 PM in the only ICL on the agenda.

Chiefs, Americans & Maddogs Gain Tuesday Wins

Blaise Cormier went 4 for 4, with three RBI’s, Andrew Caulfield added two doubles, and Gino DeSimone had two hits and an RBI, when the Andre Chiefs beat the Reading Bulldogs 4-2 at Austin Prep on Tuesday night. Lefty Jonathan Richard (1-0) allowed just three hits and struck out eight in six innings to get the win while Tommy Leone picked up his second save of the year in the seventh. Andrew Croteau had two hits, an RBI, and stole three bases for the Bulldogs. Connor Hewlette (0-2) took the loss. Mike Sorrentino had two hits and three RBI’s and Bobby Losanno and Noah Jankowski both homered when the Americans won their fourth straight in a 9-4 score over Alibrandis at Victory Field in Watertown. Scott Searles added a couple of RBI’s for the Americans. Mike Andrews (2-0), in relief of Jason Giangrande, went 3.2 innings, allowing just one hit, to get his second win of the year. Jared Brooks (2-1) pitched the first 4.1 innings for Alibrandis and was tagged with the loss. At Maplewood, the Malden Maddogs overcame a 3-1 second inning deficit and went on to edge the Lexington Blue Sox 4-3. Matt Tyman (1-2) was dominant on the mound for the Maddogs firing a complete game two-hitter while striking out eight. Tyman surrendered just one earned run on the way to his first win of the season. Logan Gillis (RBI) and Joe Klingensmith both had doubles. Henry Buttersfield III and Jared Beniers each drove in a run for Malden. Pat McGowan (2-1) look the loss for the Blue Sox. On Wednesday, the Chiefs visit the Americans at Morelli Field in Melrose at 7:30 PM and the Blue Sox host the Middlesex Expos in Lexington at 8:00 PM.
