Losanno Grand Slam Lead Americans to 5-3 Sunday Afternoon Win
Bobby Losanno’s grand slam in the bottom of the fourth inning led the way when the Melrose Americans held off the Lexington Blue Box 5-3 in a game played at Wakefield’s Walsh Field on Sunday afternoon. Greg Johnson (1-0) got the win. Cory Bright had a double, single, and drove in the fifth Melrose run. Josue Feliciano had had three hits, including a double, and knocked in a couple of runs for Lexington. Both of Sunday’s later games (Middlesex at Reading & Malden at Andre) were postponed due to rain. Monday’s Alibrandis-Lexington game at Lexington High has already been postponed as the heavy rain and wet fields continue to devastate the ICL schedule.
D’Antuono’s 8th Inning Double Gives Expos 2-0 Win Over Alibrandis
Nick D’Antuono’s two RBI double in the top of the eighth inning broke up a scoreless tie and propelled the Middlesex Expos to a 2-0 win over Alibrandis at Victory Field in Watertown on Thursday night. Zach Kirby (4-1) struck out eleven to get the pitching win. Yolhandry Peres (0-1), who came on for Paul Frisoli in the top of the eighth, took the loss. Frisoli allowed just two hits and struck out 10 in his seven innings of work. Both the Andre Chiefs at Lexington Blue Sox and the Reading Bulldogs at Malden Maddogs games were postponed due to rain. Friday’s Reading Bulldogs at Middlesex Expos game, scheduled for Trum Field, has already been postponed due to Tropical Storm Elsa.
Jennings Homers Twice in Americans’ 9-4 Win
John Jennings hit two homers to lead the Americans to a 9-4 win over the Andre Chiefs in Melrose on Wednesday night. Jennings (3-4), Bobby Losanno (2-3, RBI), and Josh Bohn (2 RBI), helped the Americans erase a 3-0 Chiefs’ first inning lead. Colin Jaena (1-1) worked the first 4.1 innings to gain the win and Mike Andrews and Ronnie Luke combined on 2.2 innings of scoreless relief. Adam Johnson and Ryan Nonne each had two hits and a couple of RBI ‘s for the Chiefs. Graham Seed (2-1) suffered his first loss of the season. On Thursday, Alibarndis host the Middlesex Expos at Victory Field in Watertown at 7:30 PM and the Chiefs travel to Lexington to meet the Blue Sox at 8:00 PM.
Bulldogs Edge Americans 3-2 at Austin Prep
Gabe Van Emon (2-1) threw six innings of five hit ball, and Jack Theriault got the seventh inning save, when the Reading Bulldogs edged the Melrose Americans 3-2 at Austin Prep on Tuesday evening. Andrew Croteau (2 hits), Joe Milar and Patrick Solomon drove in the Reading runs. Pat Costigan had two hits, including a double, and knocked in a run for the Americans. Brendan McSorly (0-1) struck out five in 4.2 innings but took the loss. The Malden Maddogs-Lexington Blue Sox game was postponed due to heavy thunderstorms in Lexington. On Wednesday, the Andre Chiefs visit the Americans at Morelli Field in Melrose at 7:30 PM in the only game on the ICL schedule.
