Cespedes No-Hits Sabers in Expos Win, Chiefs Nip Blue Sox 1-0 Behind Reed

Louis Cespedes fired a no-hitter when the Middlesex Expos beat the Stoneham Sabers 10-1 at East Boston Stadium on Monday night. Cespedes (4-1) struck out nine, walked five, and allowed one unearned run. Idelson Taveras (triple) and Anthony Marcano drove in two runs each and Michael Oliveira went 3-3 for the Expos. Silas Reed (4-0) struck out 10 batters and allowed just three hits in 6.2 innings to pitch the Andre Chiefs to a 1-0 win over the Lexington Blue Sox at Maplewood. Both teams entered the game on six game winning streaks. Juan Parra’s third inning two out single drove in Joe Bova (walk) with the game’s only run. Matt Draper (5-1) suffered his first loss of the year despite allowing only the hit to Parra in 4.1 innings before giving way to Michael O’Brien in the fifth. Jon Shepard picked up the one out save for the Chiefs in the seventh with a K.

Expos Beat Americans 4-2 in Lone Sunday Game

Frankie Melendez (1-0) got the win and Ryan Cloutier chalked up his second save when the Middlesex Expos beat the Melrose Americans 4-2 at Morelli Field. It was the only ICL game played on Sunday.Melendez and Cloutier combined to strike out seven and allow only three hits. Chris Klein drove in both Melrose runs with a fifth inning double. Bailey Taylor Black (1-1) took the loss. On Monday, the Andre Chiefs host the Lexington Blue Sox at Maplewood and the Stoneham Sabers and Expos tangle at East Boston Stadium. Both games will start at 8:00 PM.

ICL Sweeps Friday’s Four Crossover Games

The Lexington Bulldogs scored five times in the bottom of the first inning, led by John Noordman’s two run homer, then held on to edge ADSL 5-4 in Lexington on Friday night. Stuart Camp (1-0) went three innings in relief of starter Casey Hegan to grab the win while Greg Gentle threw a hitless seventh inning to record the save. Mike Nestor (2-1) tossed a five inning three-hitter, striking out nine, to get the Melrose Americans an 11-0 shutout win over The BASE at Garvey Park in Dorchester. Nick Giangregorio had two doubles and four RBI’s and Chris Klein added a triple and three RBI’s to pace the Melrose offense. Matt Donovan (1-0) gave up just one hit in six innings to lead the Middlesex Expos to a 7-1 win over the McKay Club Beacons at English High School in Jamacia Plain. Donovan struck out nine Beacon batters in the game. The Andre Chiefs expoded for 10 runs in the top of the sixth inning on the way to a 16-3 win over Mass Envelope/Grossman Marketing at Fallon Field in Roslindale. Nolan Lopes (3-3) led the Chiefs’ 17 hit offense with a single, double, triple and five RBI’s. Andrew Caulfield (3-5, double) and Luis Tejada (2 doubles) each knocked in three runs. Tim Dunphy (3-1) went five innings for the win.

Thursday’s Recap

Dylan Walsh and Mitch McCabe had RBI’s and Yemer Pineda (2-1) got the win when the Lexington Blue Sox beat the E.I. Braves 3-1 on Thursday at Cleveland Circle. Luke Descheneaux picked up the two out save with the Braves threatening in the bottom of the seventh. Veteran southpaw Evan Walsh (1-0) went 4.1 innings to get the victory in the Andre Chiefs’ 7-1 win over TJO Sports at Fallon Field in Roslindale. Miles Reid and Nolan Lopes has three hits each for the Chiefs. In other games, the East Boston Knights beat the Lexington Bulldogs 15-3, the Palmer Club knocked off the Malden Maddogs 11-6, and the Al Thomas A’s defeated the Stoneham Sabers 9-3.
