Chiefs and Maddogs Gain Tuesday Wins

The Andre Chiefs jumped out to an 8-0 first inning lead then held on to beat the Boston Park League’s Palmer Club 13-9 in a sloppy affair at Fallon Field. Bryan Woodman (double, 2 RBI), Michael Soares, and Brett Baker each had two hits. Michael McCarthy added three RBI’s and Joe Bova scored four runs for the Chiefs. Matt Doherty (2-1) went five innings to get the win……In other games, the Malden Maddogs beat the East Boston Knights 8-3 and the Boston A’s scored four times in the top of sixth inning to come from behind and beat the Blue Sox 4-2 in Lexington. Kevin Luciano’s bases clearing double was the big blow for the A’s…..

Bulldogs, Americans and Chiefs Keep ICL Unbeaten in Inter-League Play

The Lexington Bulldogs, Melrose Americans and Andre Chiefs all took wins in inter-league play on Monday night. The victories gave the ICL a combined 5-0 record over the first two days of crossover games………In Lexington, Coley Schaefer (2-0) tossed six innings and struck out nine to lead the Bulldogs to a 4-3 win over Mass Envelope/GM. Shane Costello scored two runs and had a double for Lexington……Shawn Nestor and Nick Giaagregorio rung out two hits each and Ted Giardina added an RBI triple to lead the Americans to a 5-3 eight inning win over TJO Sports at Fallon Field in Roslindale. Luke Yorba (1-0) threw two innngs of one hit ball to grab the win……The Andre Chiefs got five innings of no-run, three-hit ball from Dominic Monico (2-0) to turn back ADSL 3-1 at Maplewood. Byron Woodman (double), Ruben Rodriguez Jr. and Nick Valdario drove in the Chiefs’ runs. A.J. Rourke allowed just one hit over the final two frames to record the save…..

Sabers and Expos Open Inter-League Play with Father’s Day Wins

The Stoneham Sabers came from behind three times and took an eventual 9-8 extra inning win over the Al Thomas A’s of the Yawkey League at Recreation Park on Sunday. It was the opening game of inter-league play.  Austin Brune’s bunt single in the bottom of the ninth gave Stoneham the win. Nick Bartalini was a single away from the cycle as he led the Sabers’ offense with homer, double, triple and two RBI’s. Bryan Beneke, Tommy Shimchak and Angelo Colucci all had two hits for Stoneham. Lorenzo Figueroa went four innings in relief to get his first ICL win………In Sunday’s other game, the Middlesex Ezpos beat the YBL’s McKay Club 6-3 at English High School in Jamaica Plain…….

Chiefs & Sabers Take Thursday Wins

The Andre Chiefs moved into first place with a 14-5 win over the Middlesex Expos on Thursday at Ferullo Field in Woburn. Yariel Salinas hit his league leadung fourth homer of the season. Miles Reid went 3-4, and Teddy Dziuba, Ruben Rodriguez, Jr, Joe Bova and Michael McCarthy each had two hits to lead the Chiefs 15 hit offense. Vance Serrano (2-1) struck out seven in four innings to record the win…….The Stoneham Sabers got home runs from Nick Bartalini (3 RBI’s), Tommy Shimchak and Austin Brune to get by the Malden Maddogs 10-7 in a six inning affair at Maplewood. Caden Smith (1-2) cahlked up his first mound win of the year four four innings of four-hit ball……

Blue Sox Over Maddogs, Expos-Americans Play to 7-7 Tie

Jesse McCullough went 3-3 and Nick Anderson and Jake McElroy drove in two runs each to lead the Blue Sox to an 8-4 win over the Malden Maddogs in Lexington. Chris Wanat (1-0) went four innings to get the win. Luke Miele and and Sam Browning had a couple of hits each for Malden………The Middlesex Expos and Melrose Americans played to a nine inning 7-7 tie at Morelli Field. The Americans rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to force the extra frames. Eduardo Soto hit a solo homer for Middlesex while Shawn Nestor led the Melrose bats with two hits that included a double and RBI…..

Maddogs Defeat Americans 6-2, Other Games Postponed

Jared MacDonald and Otto McLauglin had two RBI’s apiece to lead the Malden Maddogs to a 6-2 win over the Melrose Americans at Maplewood.

Zak Whitney (1-1) allowed just two hits in five innings to get the win. Matt Decarney worked a scoreless sixth while Brock Haynes chalked up his second save in the seventh.

Aidan Barry had a two RBI triple for Melrose.

All other of Tuesday’s ICL games were postponed rain.

Melrose Beats Blue Sox 3-1, Chiefs Handle Sabers

Brandon McMahon (2-0) and Alex Parisi combined on a four-hitter to get the Americans past the Blue Sox 3-1 at Morelli Field. Owen Duggan drove in all three of the Melrose runs.

Ar Maplewood, Matt Doherty (1-1) picked up his first ICL win with complete game four hitter when the Andre Chiefs rallied past the Stoneham Sabers 4-2. Shortstop Nate Witkowski drove in two runs for the Chiefs. Doherty struck out nine.

Libretto & Bulldogs Late HR’s Give Bulldogs Dramatic Win

Vince Libretto tied the game with a three run, two out homer in the seventh and Reuben Siegel won it with a solo shot in the bottom off ninth to give the Bulldogs a 7-6 win over the Stoneham Sabers in Lexington on Sunday.

Nigel Cross (1-1) threw four strong inning in relief to grab the win.

Libretto had four RBI’s and Brett Stone added three hits for the Bulldogs.

Nelson Correa went 3-4 and Angelo Collucci and Emanuel Cepada each drove in two runs for the Sabers.

 

City of Medford to Remember Chiefs and ICL Legend Fred Knox on Sunday at Playstead

(Medford, MA) A great day is planned for Sunday, June 8 at Playstead Park in West Medford to honor and remember former Medford High Baseball Coach and ex-Chiefs and Intercity League legend Fred Knox with a monument.

Knox passed away last year.

Many Medford High and ICL Hall of Famers will join the Knox Family, Fred’s former players, teammates, and friends for the dedication ceremony which begins at 1:00 PM. Everyone is invited to come down and join in the festivities.

A reception will follow at the Ho Win Palace on Middlesex Ave.

Chiefs Beat Sabers 6-3 in Friday’s Only Game

Yariel Salanis had a homer and three RBI’s to lead the Andre Chiefs to a 6-3 win over the Stoneham Sabers at Maplewood. A.J. Rourke (1-0) allowed just one earned run in four innings to get the win while Kobe Seelong recorded the three inning save. Jacob Deziel chipped in with a RBI double. Emanuel Cepada had two hits and drove in a couple of runs for Stoneham. Caden Smith (0-2) struck out eight in his five innings but was tagged with the loss….There are no ICL games scheduled for Saturday…..
