Lexington Blanks Reading 5-0, Middlesex & Malden End in 8-8 Tie

Ryan O’Rourke (4-0) fired a complete game two-hitter, striking out seven, when the Lexington Blue Sox shutout the Reading Bulldogs 5-0 on Tuesday night at Austin Prep. Julian Alvarez had a two-run homer and Alex Krylov and John Fritz both had two hits for the Blue Sox. Connor Hewlette (0-1) took the loss for the Bulldogs.

In Tuesday’s other game, the Middlesex Expos and Malden Maddogs played to an 8-8 seven inning tie.

There are two ICL games on today’s schedule. The Blue Sox travel to Morelli Field to take on the Melrose Americans at 7:30 PM and the Andre Chiefs host the Bulldogs at Maplewood at 8:15 PM.

Brooks K’s 14 in 6-2 Alibrandis Win, Blue Sox Blank Maddogs 5-0

Jared Brooks (2-0) struck out 14 batters and tossed a neat four-hitter when Alibrandis knocked off the Reading Bulldogs 6-2 on Monday night at Maplewood. Michael Maguire went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBI’s, Teddy Dziuba had two hits including a solo homer, and Gordie Gronkowski drove in two runs to lead Alibrandis’ 11 hit offense.

In Lexington, the Blue Sox got five shutout innings from starter and winner Kyle Murphy (1-0) on the way to a 5-0 win over the Malden Maddogs. Alex Voitik led the way at the plate with a two-run first inning homer, a single, and three RBI’s. Gage Gaunt added two hits, scored twice, and had an RBI for the Sox. Borja Jones-Berasaluce and Manny Delcarmen each threw a scoreless frame to preserve the shutout. Matt Tyman (0-2) took the loss.

On Tuesday, the Blue Sox visit the Bulldogs at Austin Prep at 6:45 PM and Maddogs host the Middlesex Expos at Maplewood at 8:15 PM.

Expos & Alibrandis Get Sunday Wins

David Kerns, Scott Hall (1-0), and Dane Lebert (S,2) combined on a two-hitter when the Middlesex Expos shutout the Melrose Americans 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at Morelli Field. Andrew Mazzone with a solo homer and Izzy Tatis’ RBI double provided all the runs in the game. Chris Mitchell (0-2) took the loss.

In Sunday’s other game, Alibrandis edged the Reading Bulldogs 2-1 at Morton Field. Pete John had two hits, including a double, and scored both of Alibrandis runs. Sean Sullivan (1-1) got the win in relief of Bryan Saffelle. Yohandry Perez picked up his second save.

On Monday, Reading and Alibrandis meet again, this time at Maplewood at 8:00 PM, and the Lexington Blue Sox host the Malden Maddogs in Lexington, also at 8:00 PM.

Middlesex Expos, Intercity League

Kirby K’s 14 in 2-1 Expos Walk-off Win

Jose Paulino singled with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, driving in Brett Samboy with the winning run, when the Middlesex Expos walked off with a 2-1 win against the Lexington Blue Sox on Friday night at Trum Field. Zach Kirby, 3-1, pitched a complete game four-hitter for the win with 14 K’s. Andrew Mazzone and Chris Carey each had two hits to lead the Expos offense. Robbie Cobb (0-2) took the loss.

There are no ICL games scheduled on Saturday.

Alibrandis Baseball Club

Frisoli (11 K’s) Pitches Alibrandis to 6-1 Win

Paul Frisoli struck out 11 batters in six innings to lead Alibrandis to a 6-1 win over the Andre Chiefs at Trum Field on Thursday night. Kyle Halloran came off the bench and had a double and triple and two RBI’s and Gordie Gronkowski had two hits and a couple of RBI’s to lead the Alibrandis offense.
Frisoli (2-2) allowed just four hits. Evan Walsh (0-2) took the loss.

The Lexington Blue Sox visit the Middlesex Expos on Friday at 8:30 PM at Trum Field in Somerville in the only ICL game on the schedule.

Monagle Fires 1-0 Shutout, O’Rourke K’s 12 in 5 Innings in Blue Sox Win, Americans Walk Off in 8th

Cam Monagle fired a complete game four hitter when the Middlesex Expos shutout the Malden Maddogs 1-0 at Trum Field on Wednesday night. Monagle (2-0) struck out 10 and outdueled the Maddogs’ duo of C.J. Barrett and Meridius Pendell (0-4) who allowed just six hits.

Ryan O’Rourke (3-0) struck out 12 in five innings in a 9-3 Lexington Blue Sox win over the Andre Chiefs at Maplewood. Will Potdevin had a three run inside the park homer, Julian Alvarez went three for three with a couple of RBI, and Josue Feliciano had two hits and scored three times for the Blue Sox. Tim Dunphy (0-2) took the loss for the Chiefs.

At Morelli Field, the Melrose Americans erased a 3-1 seventh inning deficit, scoring twice to tie the game, then walked off with an eight inning 4-3 win over Alibrandis. Pat Costigan had two hits and an RBI and Kyle Cortese had a double and two RBI to lead the Americans at the plate. Bobby Tramondozzi (1-0), the fourth Melrose pitcher of the night, got the win. Dave Lightbody had a solo homer and Teddy Dziuba had two hits and two RBI’s for Alibrandis.

The Chiefs visit Alibrandis at Trum Field tonight at 8:30 PM in the only Thursday game on the ICL schedule.

In Wednesday night action Lexington defeats the Chiefs

Malden – Lexington scored five runs in the fourth to break open a 4-0 game and defeated the Chiefs 9-3 in a game played at Maplewood last night. The game was called at 10:30 in the bottom of the seventh when the lights went out. The Chiefs had scored twice and had runners on the corners with one out when the game was called.
Will Potdevin capped off the fourth with a three-run inside-the-park home, his first and the teams first of 2021, to give the Sox a 9-0 lead.
Julian Alvarez was 3-for-3 with two RBI and Josue Feliciano was 2-for-2 with a walk and three runs to lead the Blue Sox.
Ryan O’Rourke, 3-0, pitched five innings giving up two hits, a run, 12 strike outs and walked six.
Ryan Noone, who pinch hit in the fifth, drove in two runs for the Chiefs. His two-out single in the fifth drove in Graham Smith to break up the shutout bid. In the seventh He doubled to score Nick Valdario with the last run of the night.
Chiefs starter Tim Dunphy, 0-2, took the loss. In three innings of work he gave up seven hits, four runs, walked 2 and struck out two.

Reading Bulldogs

Van Emon’s 3-Hitter Gets Bulldogs 4-1 Win in Lexington

Gabe Van Emon fired a complete game three-hitter, striking out 10 batters, when the Reading Bulldogs beat the Blue Sox 4-1 in Lexington on Monday night. Jon Miller broke up a scoreless game in the top of the fifth inning with a two RBI double and Ben Schena went two for two and added an RBI for the Bulldogs. Robbie Cobb (0-1), in relief of Justin Wells who threw three scoreless innings, took the loss.

On Tuesday, the Bulldogs host the Melrose Americans at Austin Prep at 6:45 PM and Alibrandis visits the Malden Maddogs at Maplewood (Malden Catholic) at 8:15 PM>

Lexington Blue Sox

Blue Sox Beat Middlesex in Lone Friday ICL Game

Lexington won its fifth straight and snapped the first-place Middlesex Expos six game win streak with a 6-2 win Friday night at Trum Field in Somerville. It was the only ICL game on the schedule.

The Blue Sox, 5-1, took a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Brendan Jones and Julian Alvarez both walked, Ryan Cervone singled driving in Jones, and Alex Voitik doubled in Alvarez.

Lexington stretched its lead went to 3-0 in the fifth when Alvarez drew another walk and Cervone hit a long triple to center.

Pat McGowan, 2-0, started for Lexington and pitched five scoreless inning while striking out 10. He stranded six Expos, including three at third and one at second to keep Middlesex off the scoreboard.

Lexington extended the lead to 6-0 and put the game away in the top of the seventh on a Gage Gaunt two RBI double.

Middlesex, 6-2, added two runs in the bottom of the seventh to avoid the shutout. Dane Lebbert walked and came home on Jose Paulino’s double. Paulino took third on the throw home and then scored on an infield out.

The Lexington win moved the Blue Sox (10) to within two points of Middlesex (12).

There are no ICL games scheduled on Saturday.

Andre Chiefs, Intercity League Baseball

Chiefs Beat Maddogs 9-7

Nick Valdario went 3 for 5, with a triple and three RBI’s, to lead the Andre Chiefs to a 9-7 win over the Malden Maddogs at Maplewood on Thursday night. Mitch Schroeder and Brendan Albert each hit a solo homer for the Chiefs. Silas Reed (2-0) picked up the win, striking out six in two innings, in relief of starter Graham Seed who worked a perfect three innings. Logan Gillis had two of the Maddogs seven hits.

One ICL game is scheduled for Friday. The Lexington Blue Sox will travel to Trum Field in Somerville to meet the Middlesex Expos at 8:30 PM,
