Mazzone & Kirby Leads Expos, Krylov (2) & Blue Sox Hit Five Homers in 14-5 Win

Andrew Mazzone hit a pair of solo homers, his fifth and sixth of the season, and Matt Costanza had an RBI double, when the Middlesex Expos beat the Melrose Americans 3-1 at Trum Field on Friday. Zach Kirby (6-1) fired a sharp complete game three-hitter while striking out a dozen. Scott Searles provided all of the Melrose offense with a second inning home run. Chris Mitchell (2-3) allowed just five hits in 5.1 innings but took the loss.

At Maplewood, the Lexington Blue Sox banged out five home runs on the way to a 14-5 win over the Malden Maddogs. Alex Krylov went 4-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI’s to pace the 17 hit attack. Gage Gaunt singled twice, tripled, and hit a two-run homer and Brendan Jones and Ryan Grace each had a round-tripper for the Blue Sox. Logan Gillis and Mac Harris each had a two-run home run for the Maddogs in the bottom of the third inning. Jack Swartz (2-1) picked up the pitching win.

Ten homers were hit in the two games played on Friday night.

Jennings & Costigan Lead Americans 13-12, O’Rourke Paces Blue Sox

John Jennings and Pat Costigan combined for 10 RBI’s when the Melrose Americans outlasted the Andre Chiefs 13-12 in a nine inning slugfest at Maplewood on Thursday night. Jennings (3-4) had two homers and six RBI’s and Costigan (3-6) had a single, double, triple, and four RBI’s. Noah Jankowski (3-5) chipped in with a single, two doubles, and an RBI. Andrew Caulfield smacked two homers, Mitch Schroeder connected for his second round tripper of the year, and Ryan Noone had a 4-6 night with two doubles for the Chiefs. Bobby Tramondozzi (2-0), the sixth Melrose pitcher of the night, worked the final three innings to get his second win of the campaign.

It was the Ryan O’Rourke show in Lexington when the Blue Sox blanked the Malden Maddogs 18-0. On the mound O’Rourke raised his season record to 7-0 striking out 13 batters and allowing just three hits in six innings. At the plate O’Rourke paced the offense with a 4-5 performance that included a double and three RBI’s. Josue Feliciano hit his second home run of the season and Dahiandy Johnson enjoyed a 3-3 evening to lead Lexington’s 22 hit offense.

On Friday, the Blue Sox and Maddogs meet again, this time at Maplewood at 8:00 PM, and the Americans visit the Middlesex Expos at Trum Field at 8:30 PM.

Gustavson Pitches Chiefs Past Alibrandis 2-1

Tufts University’s southpaw Lucas Gustavson (1-0) went six innings to get the win when the Andre Chiefs edged Alibrandis 2-1 on Wednesday night at Howard Park on the Malden Catholic campus. The Chiefs erased a 1-0 Alibrandis lead when they scored their two runs in the bottom of the second inning. An error and singles from Miles Reid, Graham Smith, Kyle DeRoma, and Nick Valdario accounted for the runs. Teddy Dziuba had two of Alibrandis six hits. Sean Sullivan (1-2) took the loss.

On Thursday, the Chiefs host the Melrose Americans at Maplewood at 8:00 PM and the Malden Maddogs visit the Blue Sox in Lexington also at 8:00 PM.

Chiefs-Bulldogs Suspended in 4th, Games at Maplewood & Victory Postponed

Rain once again played havoc with the ICL schedule on Tuesday night.

The Melrose Americans at Alibrandis game at Victory Field and the Middlesex Expos at Malden Maddogs contest at Maplewood were both rained out by the heavy thunderstorms.

The Andre Chiefs and Reading Bulldogs got underway early at Austin Prep and played into the fourth inning when the game was suspended with the Chiefs in front 5-1. The game will be resumed at the point it was stopped on a date to be determined.

Om Wednesday, the Chiefs host Alibrandis at Howard Park on the Malden Catholic campus at 8:00 PM.

Alibrandis and Blue Sox Pitch Monday Shutouts

Anthony DelPrete tossed a complete game five-hitter when Alibrandis blanked the Reading Bulldogs 6-0 at Austin Prep on Monday evening. The veteran righty struck out six and raised his record to 2-0 on the season. Teddy Dziuba led the Alibrndis offense with three RBI’s which included a two-run homer, his third of the season. Michael Maguire added two hits and an RBI for Alibrandis. Max Tarlin (1-4) allowed just two hits in five innings but took the loss.

In Lexington, Pat McGowan struck out nine in six innings to pitch the Blue Sox past the Melrose Americans 3-0. McGowan upped his season record to 4-0 and got seventh inning help from Borja Jones-Berasaluce who picked up his second save. Luke Hall singled to drive in Dahiandy Johnson with the first Blue Sox run in the second. Cory Bright, Josh Bohn, and Pat Costigan each had two hits for the Americans. Colin Jaena (2-2) gave up just four hits in 4.2 innings for Melrose.

On Tuesday, the Andre Chiefs visit the Bulldogs at Austin Prep at 6:45 PM, the Americans and Alibrandis meet at Victory Field at 7:30 PM, and the Malden Maddogs host the Middlesex Expos at Maplewood at 7:45 PM.

Maddogs and Expos Win on Sunday

Eathan Harris had a single, double, and triple to lead the Malden Maddogs to a 6-5 win over the Reading Bulldogs on Sunday at Morton Field. Dan Baker hit a grand slam in Reading’s five run bottom of the fifth inning which tied the game at 5-5 before the Maddogs won it with a single run in the sixth. Zak Levine (2-1) got the win with two innings of scoreless relief.

At Morelli Field, Cam Monagle (3-0) struck out nine batters in five innings when the Middlesex Expos beat the Andre Chiefs 6-2. Jose Paulno (3 RBI’s) and Andrew Mazzone both homered to pace the Expos 12 hit offense.

On Monday, Reading hosts Alibrandis at Austin Prep at 6:30 PM and the Melrose Americans and Lexington Blue Sox meet in Lexington at 8:00 PM.

Alibrandis and Expos Get Friday Wins

Juan Parra went 3 for 3, Charlie Auditore had a homer and a single and two RBI’s, and Teddy Dziuba had two RBI’s, when Alibrandis beat the Malden Maddogs 9-1 at Maplewood on Friday night. Colin Velis (1-0) struck out four in four innings to get the win.

In Lexington, Andrew Mazzone had a homer and four RBI’s to lead the Middlesex Expos to a 8-2 win over the Blue Sox. Leadoff man Kebler Peralta added three hits and a couple of RBI’s for the Expos. Zach Kirby (5-1) struck out 13 batters in five innings to get the win as Expos pitching combined on a 17 strikeout performance.

Blue Sox & Chiefs Get Wins, Reading-Alibrandis End in 4-4 Tie

Ryan O’Rourke (6-0) fired a 14 strikeout five-hitter when the Lexington Blue Sox beat the Melrose Americans 4-1 at Morelli Field on Thursday night. Luke Hall drove in two of Lexington’s runs with a solo homer and a sacrifice fly and Will Potdevin had three hits. Bobby Losanno had two of the Melrose hits and Keegan O’Connor drove home Mike Sorrentino for the Americans’ only run with a second inning single. Manny Delcarmen picked up his second save of the year when he worked a scoreless seventh with two K’s. Brendan McSorely (0-2) gave up just two runs in his four innings but took the loss.

At Maplewood, veteran lefty Tim Dunphy (2-2) got the win when the Andre Chiefs defeated the Malden Maddogs 13-1. Ryan Noone had three hits, scored four runs, and added a couple of RBI’s, while Joe Bova had a bases clearing double in the Chiefs’ eight run third inning.

The Reading Bulldogs and Alibrandis played to a 4-4 tie at Victory Field. Paul Frisoli went all seven innings for Alibrandis and struck out 13 while Jack Wallace worked the first five innings for Reading. Dave Lightbody had two doubles for Alibrandis. Andrew Croteau and Zac Willis (2 RBI) each had a single and double for the Bulldogs.

On Friday, the Maddogs host Alibrandis at Maplewood at 7:45 PM and the Middlesex Expos travel to meet the Blue Sox in Lexington at 8:00 PM.

Dziuba (3 RBI’s) Paces Alibrandis, Bulldogs Win in Wednesday ICL Action,

Teddy Dziuba had two hits, including a homer and three RBI’s, to lead Alibrandis to a 9-6 win over the Andre Chiefs on Wednesday night at Malden Catholic. Juan Parra and Kyle Halloran each added a couple of hits and an RBI to augment Alibrandis 11 hit attack. Veteran Anthony Delprete (1-0) went the first four innings to get the win. Mitch Schroeder and Joe Bova each had two hits for the Chiefs. Graham Seed (2-3) took the loss.

In Melrose, the Reading Bulldogs jumped out to a 3-0 first inning lead, and then scored five times in the top of the sixth, to beat the Americans 8-3 at Morelli Field. Tyler Cedeno went 3-3 with three RBI’s and Andrew Croteau, Joe Millar (two doubles), Chris Bosco (two doubles, three RBI), Garrett Going, and Liam Merlin all had multiple hit games for Reading. Scott Searles had three hits for the Americans. Connor Hewlette (1-2) picked up the win while Greg Johnson (1-2) got the loss.

On Thursday, Alibrandis hosts the Bulldogs at Victory Field in Watertown at 7:30 PM, the Lexington Blue Sox and the Americans meet at Morelli Field at 7:30 PM, and the Malden Maddogs and the Chiefs hook up at Maplewood (Malden Cathoilc) at 7:45 PM.

McGowan Outduels Tarlin in 1-0 Blue Sox Win Over Bulldogs, Alibrandis Beats Maddogs 8-4

Luke Hall’s single to right drove in Gage Gaunt in the top of the sixth inning when the Lexington Blue Sox edged the Reading Bulldogs 1-0 on Tuesday night at Austin Prep. Pat McGowan (3-0) pitched a complete game two hit shutout with eight strike outs. He retired 11 straight from the third through the seventh innings.
Max Tarlin (1-3) took a no-hitter into the fifth inning and retired 13 of the first 14 batters he faced.
Dan Baker and Chris Bosco had the hits for Reading.

Jared Brooks (3-1) got the win and Steve Rizzuto had a homer and three RBI’s when Alibrandis doubled up the Malden Maddogs 8-4 at Victory Field in Watertown. Juan Parra, Teddy Dziuba, and Tyler Ferdinand also had RBI’s for Alibrandis.

The Andre Chiefs at Middlesex Expos game, scheduled for Trim Field in Somerville, was postponed.

On Wednesday, the Melrose Americans host the Bulldogs at Morelli Field at 7:30 PM and Alibrandis visits the Andre Chiefs at the new Howard Park located on the opposite side of the Malden Catholic campus from Maplewood.
