Americans Beat Blue Sox and Chiefs Handle Maddogs in 5-1 Scores

Chris Mitchell (3-0) fired six innings of one-hit ball to lead the Melrose Americans to a 5-1 win over the Lexington Blue Sox at Morelli Field. Nick Giangregorio had two hits, including a homer, leadoff man Pat Costigan had a double among his three hits, Noah Jankowski (RBI, double) recorded two hits, and John Jennings banged out two hits and a RBI, to lead the Americans’ 11 hit offense. Ernie Little drove home the Lexington run. Mitchell struck out six. Ryan O’Rourke (0-1) took the loss.

At Maplewood, Cal Carroll (1-2) and Jonathan Chotkowski combined on a three-hitter when the Andre Chiefs defeated the Malden Maddogs 5-1. Carroll went three innings while Chotkowski worked the final four frames. Chris Klein (2 RBI) and John Baptista both had triples, Juan Parra added a double and RBI, and Ryan Noone two hits to pace the Chiefs. Matt Tyman (0-3) suffered the loss for the Maddogs.

On Thursday, the Americans visit the Reading Bulldogs at Lexington High at 7:00 PM and Maddogs host the Middlesex Expos at Maplewood at 8:00 PM.
