Americans Take 16-8 Monday Win Over Maddogs

The first four batters in the lineup combined for 11 RBI’s when the Melrose Americans beat the Malden Maddogs 16-8 at Maplewood on Monday night. Bobby Losanno (2-5, double, triple, 3 RBI), Pat Costigan (3-3, double, 4 RBI), John Jennings (3-5, home run, double, 3 RBI) and Kyle Cortese (2-5, double, RBI), led the Americans at the plate. For Jennings it was his league leading fourth round-tripper of the season. Chris Mitchell (1-2) worked four innings, allowing just one run, to grab his first win of the year and Ronnie Luke and Jay Smith each tossed a scoreless frame for the Americans.

The Alibrandis-Blue Sox game in Lexington was rained out.

On Tuesday, the Andre Chiefs travel to Austin Prep to meet the Reading Bulldogs at 6:45 PN, the Americans visit Alibrandis at Victory Field in Watertown at 7:30 PM, and the Maddogs host the Blue Sox at Maplewood (Malden Catholic) at 7:45 PM.
