ALL-NESTOR for Americans, Chiefs, Blue Sox & Expos Win

The Melrose Americans beat Mass Envelope/GM 3-2 at Morelli Field on Wednesday night, Those at the game saw something they have no doubt never seen before nor ever will again. Mike Nestor (pictured) struck out 17, picked three runners off base, and caught a line drive back to the mound, making him personally responsible for all 21 outs in the game. Most certainly this is the first time in ICL history this remarkable feat has ever occured. Nestor (5-1) allowed five hits and walked two. Jack Beverly’s homer keyed a three-run sixth inning for the Americans.

The Andre Chiefs rung out 13 hits on the way to a 10-1 victory over the E.I. Braves at Maplewood Tim Dunphy (4-1) went five innings to get the win. Hector Pellot (3-4, double, 3 RBI’s), Mitchell Schroeder (2-4, double, RBI), Teddy Dziuba (2-2, double) and Nick Valdario (2 RBI’s) led the offense. It was the Chiefs’ 11th straight win.

Brett Stone’s pinch hit two out single, in the bottom of the sixth inning, broke a 4-4 tie and gave the Blue Sox a 5-4 win over the Al Thomas A’s in Lexington. Nick Anderson drove in two runs with a third inning triple and Anderson Jimenez added two hits for the Sox. Mark Herlihy (1-0) picked up the relief win while Nate Hartley got the A’s side in order in the seventh to record his first save.

Louis Cespedes (5-1) struck out 11 and allowed just five hits to pitch the Middlesex Expos to a 3-2 win over the Boston Padres at East Boston Stadium.

In other games, the Boston Athletics doubled up the Stoneham Sabers 10-5 at Town Field in Dorchester and TJO Sports beat the Lexington Bulldogs 17-4 at Fallon Field in Roslindale,
