Mitchell Pitches Americans to Win, Bulldogs Beat Blue Sox
Chris Mitchell (2-0) threw 6.1 innings of one-hit ball to lead the Melrose Americans to a 6-2 win over the Middlesex Expos at Morelli. Leadoff man Pat Costigan had a double and three RBI’s and Cory Bright (2 RBI) and Aidan Barry each enjoyed three hit nights for the Americans. Mitchell struck out five before giving way to Bobby Tramondozzi in the seventh. Matt Josselyn (1-1) took the loss for the Expos.
In Lexington, Pat Solomon with a double, triple, 2 RBI and 2 runs scored and Ryan Boyle with 3 RBI, including two on his 5th inning home run, led the Reading Bulldogs to an 8-6 win over the Blue Sox. Cole Veldis (2-2) pitched 6.1 innings with 9 K’s for the win. Julian Alvarez hit his second homer of the year and Jesse McCullough had three hits for Lexington. Jack Schwartz (1-1) suffered the loss.
The Bulldogs are right back in action on Thursday night when they host the Andre Chiefs at Lexington High at 7:00 PM in the only ICL game on the schedule.
