Blue Sox Walk-Off with 2-1 Thursday Night Win

Nate Wolf singled home Taylor Ferguson, who had tripled, in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Blue Sox a 2-1 walk-off win over the Andre Chiefs in Lexington. Casey Bussone (1-0) picked up the win going three innings in relief of starter Mike Geanellis. Ben Waldrip accounted for the Chiefs’ offense with a fourth inning solo homer. Mitchell Clegg (1-1) took the loss despite allowing only four hits and striking out eight.

The Blue Sox are back in action tonight when they host the Malden Maddogs at 8:00 PM. It is the only game on Friday’s ICL schedule.

Chiefs, Americans & Alibrandis Take Wednesday Night Wins

Tony Serino’s two run inside the park homer keyed the Chiefs 4-2 comeback win over the Reading Bulldogs at Maplewood. The Chiefs rode righty Jared Freni (2-0) to their third straight win. Nate Witkowski and Shane Stande each had two hits for the Chiefs who erased a 2-0 Reading lead with four runs in the fifth inning. Tyler Cedeno had three of Reading’s five hits. Freni struck out 11. Southpaw Cam Lanzilli (1-1) shutout the Chiefs over the first four innings but took the loss.

At Morelli Field, Kyle Autilio (1-1) tossed five innings of two-hit ball, and Aran Hamilton-Grenham picked up the save, when the Melrose Americans handed the Somerville Royals their first loss of the season 6-2. Dave Center was the center of the Americans’ offense with three RBI’s that included his first home run of the year. Casey Santos Ocampo added two hits including a double and an RBI. Adam Johnson and Brady Chant had a couple of hits each for the Royals. Jonathan Richard (1-1) took the loss.

Alibrandis got their first win of the year, scoring five times in the top of the sixth, to knock the Wakefield Merchants from the unbeaten ranks 6-2 at Walsh Field. Chris Costa (1-0) allowed just three hits over his five innings to record the win. Mark Addesa had two hits and an RBI and Dave Lightbody had a two run double in the sixth inning for Alibrandis. 2017 ICL MVP Bobby Lossano had two of the Merchants eight hits.

On Thursday, the Chiefs visit the Blue Sox in Lexington at 8:00 PM in the only game on the ICL schedule.

Horan Throws No-Hitter for Watertown

Malden, MA- Matt Horan (2-0) threw a no-hitter when the Watertown Reds shutout the Malden Maddogs 7-0 on Tuesday night at Maplewood Park.

Horan was overpowering from start to finish, striking out 11 Maddogs, on the way to his second win of the young season.

Jake Miller was the offensive star for the Reds with two hits and three RBI’s, which included a two-run homer. Kyle LaVigne chipped in with a couple of hits and two RBI’s, and cleanup man Logan Gillis also added a two hit game.

Horan, who made his other start vs the Maddogs on May 29, has allowed just one hit in the twelve innings he has pitched so far this season.

For Horan, this is his second career no-hitter in the ICL. The former Franklin Pierce righty tossed a no-no against the Arlington Trojans on June 29, 2017.

Games at Ferullo Field in Woburn and Trum Field in Somerville were both washed out.

Reds and Americans Take Sunday Wins

Will Brennan drove in three runs and Worth Walrod threw six innings of two-hit baseball when the Watertown Reds shutout Alibrandis 4-0 at Victory Field. Walrod (1-0) struck out seven batters.

At Endicott College, Dylan Morris had three hits, including a pair of doubles and four RBI’s, to lead the Melrose Americans to a 12-6 win over the Reading Bulldogs. Melrose used an 8 run third inning erasing a 4-1 Bulldog lead. Austin Masel, Chris Hopkins, and John Jennings each chipped in with two hits to lead the Americans’ 13 hit offense. Darren Hartwell, Zac Talis, Kyle Breenan, and Johnny Hayes had two hits each for Reading. Chris Mitchell (1-0) went three innings in relief of Brent Greeley to get the win.

 

 

Merchants Shutout Maddogs in Lone Friday Game

The Wakefield Merchants went to 2-0 on the season with a 18-0 shutout win over the Malden Maddogs on Friday night in Malden. Joseph Maguire (1-0) picked up the win and combined with Greg Johnson and Jake Berrisi to limit the Maddogs to two hits. The Merchants 18 hit attack was led by Anthony Cecere who homered.

There are no ICL games on Saturday.

Two ICL games are scheduled for Sunday. The Melrose Americans travel to Endicott College in Beverly to meet the Reading Bulldogs at 7:00 PM and the Reds host Alibrandis at Victory Field in Watertown at 7:45 PM.

Bulldogs Beat Blue Sox 9-1, Chiefs Edge Alibrandis in Thursday Action

Jeff Roy and Mike Taylor had three hits each, and Zac Talis recorded three RBI’s, when the Reading Bulldogs beat the Blue Sox 9-1 in Lexington.  Cam Lanzilli (1-0) got the win throwing four innings of two-hit ball in relief of Kyle Wollman.

The Andre Chiefs got a two-run homer from Matt Nuzzo and five innings of seven strikeout pitching from lefty Mitchell Clegg (1-0) to hold off Alibrandis 4-3 at Ferullo Field.

On Friday, the Wakefield Merchants travel to Maplewood Park in Malden at 7:30 PM to meet the Maddogs in the lone ICL game on the schedule.
