Blue Sox Beat Americans, Chiefs Edge Expos

Eli Perez’ two-run single in the sixth inning broke open a 2-2 tie and led the Blue Sox to a 5-2 win over the Melrose Americans in Lexington on Thursday night. Pinch-runner Ernie Little and Alex Voitik scored on Perez’ single.
Jake Vesling started for Lexington and pitched 5+ innings, giving up two hits, an unearned run, and struck out three. Despite giving up a run, Borja Jones-Berasaluce (2-0) picked up the win in relief. Manny Delcarmen closed out the seventh for his fourth save. Scott Searles and Jack Beverly drove in the Melrose runs.

At Brandeis, Teddy Dziuba had two hits, including a double, and drove home two runs to lead the Andre Chiefs past the Middlesex Expos 5-4. Andrew Caulfield added a couple of hits and Juan Parra and Ryan Noone both had RBI’s for the Chiefs. Paul Frisoli chalked up the win with four innings of six strikeout, two-hit relief. Frisoli (1-0) came on for Chiefs’ starter Cal Carroll who worked the first three innings.

The Reading Bulldogs meet the Blue Sox in Lexington at 8:00 PM in tonight’s only game.

Dunphy 3 Hits Bulldogs in 3-1 Chiefs Win, Maddogs Edge Expos at Brandeis

Tim Dunphy tossed a complete game three-hitter when the Andre Chiefs beat the Reading Bulldogs 3-1 on Wednesday night at Maplewood. Andrew Caulfield (RBI) and John Baptista led the Chiefs with two hits each and Nick Valdario had a RBI triple. Aidan Vining (0-2) took the loss despite striking out eight in his 4.1 innings. Dunphy raised his record to 4-2 on the year with the win.

Brian Pelrine (1-0) got the win with two innings of scoreless relief when the visiting Malden Maddogs edged the Middlesex Expos 5-4 at Brandeis. Hector Roman Jr (double) had two hits and two RBI, Conor Hanlon a two RBI double, and Mike Pratte added a triple to pace the Maddogs.

On Thursday, the Melrose Americans visit the Blue Sox in Lexington at 8:00 PM and the Chiefs and Expos meet at Brandeis at 8:15 PM.

Costigan Leads Americans Past Bulldogs, Chiefs Beat Maddogs 13-2 Behind Walsh

Pat Costigan had a single, double, and homer and drove in two runs to lead the Melrose Americans to a 6-4 win over the Reading Bulldogs in Lexington. Cory Bright and Gianni Zarrilli had two hits each for the Americans while Graham Seed had two hits (double) and drove in two of Reading’s runs. Chris Mitchell (4-1) picked up the win and Nick Colucci his first save.

Lefty Evan Walsh (2-0) struck out eight and allowed just three hits in his five innings to get the Andre Chiefs past the Malden Maddogs 13-2 at Maplewood. The Chiefs put this one away early when they took an 8-0 lead in the second inning. Andrew Caulfield let the way with three hits and three RBI’s. Kyle DeRoma added three hits while Juan Parra, Nick Valdario, and John Baptista all added two hits. Braden Killens had two hits, that included a double and RBI, for Malden.

On Wednesday, the Chiefs host the Bulldogs at Maplewood at 8:00 PM and the Maddogs visit the Middlesex Expos at Brandeis at 8:15 PM.

Blue Sox and Bulldogs Take Monday Night Wins

Robbie Cobb (4-1) tossed five shutout innings when the Blue Sox shutout the Middlesex Expos 4-0 in Lexington. Alex Voitik had a double and scored a run for the Blue Sox. Zach Kirby (3-2) allowed only three hits in his five innings but took the loss.

The Reading Bulldogs got three run homers from Ryan Boyle in the first inning and Matthew Favazzo in the seventh when they rallied to beat the Andre Chiefs 9-7 at Maplewood. Reliever Jay Masci (1-0) picked up the win and Will Seward recorded his second save of the season. Juan Parra had two hits and scored three times for the Chiefs.

Tonight the Bulldogs host the Melrose Americans in Lexington at 7:00 PM and the Malden Maddogs and Chiefs play at Maplewood at 8:00 PM.

Maddogs Edge Americans 2-1 on Sunday Afternoon

Matt Tyman (1-3) went five innings to get the win, and Zak Levine picked up the two inning save, when the Malden Maddogs edged the Melrose Americans 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Morelli Field. The duo allowed just three hits and combined to strike out seven. Ryan Joyce (1-1), Nick Colucci, and Bobby Tramondozzi didn’t allow an earned run and K’d eight for the Americans. Quinton Copeland and Lawrence Tang scored the Maddogs’ runs while Pat Costigan had two of the Americans’ hits and the only RBI of the game.

The Blue Sox will host the Middlesex Expos in Lexington and the Reading Bulldogs will visit the Andre Chiefs at Maplewood in Monday ICL action. Both games will start at 8:00 PM.

Blue Sox Beat Maddogs 6-1 in Only Friday Game

Julian Alvarez had two RBI’s and Pete John and Cam Meyer drove home single runs when the Blue Sox beat the Malden Madoogs 6-1 in Lexington. Veteran righty Matt Karis (1-0) struck out five and allowed just three hits in four innings to gain the win. Lawrence Tang (double) had two of the Maddogs’ six hits in the game. Ben Burke (0-1) had five strikeouts in four innings but took the loss.

There are no ICL games on Saturday. Play resumes on Sunday when the Melrose Americans host the Maddogs at Morelli Field in a 4:00 PM start.

Dunphy Pitches Chiefs Past Bulldogs 10-1, Expos Beat Americans 8-2

Veteran lefty Tim Dunphy went the distance, striking out 10, when the Chiefs beat the Reading Bulldogs 10-1 in Lexington on Thursday night. John Baptista led the Chiefs with four RBI’s including a homer. Kyle DeRoma had three RBI’s and Ryan Noone added two hits and a couple of RBI’s for the winners. Joe Cacciatore and Patrick Solomon each had two hits for the Bulldogs. Dunphy (3-2) scattered seven hits.

Blue Sox, Maddogs & Expos Take Wednesday Wins

Julian Alvarez hit his third homer of season and drove in two runs and Andrew Selima and Morgan Brown added two RBI’s each when the Lexington Blue Sox edged the Melrose Americans 11-10 in a slugfest at Morelli Field. Noah Jankowski had a homer and double with four RBI’s and John Jennings hit a round tripper for the Americans. Robbie Cobb (3-1) picked up the win.

At Maplewood, the Malden Maddogs got a four for four performance from Logan Gillis (double, 2 RBI’s) and Braden Killens had a double and three RBI’s on the way to a 6-3 win over the Andre Chiefs. Teddy Dziuba had a homer and drove in all three Chiefs’ runs. Jack McLaughlin (1-3) got the win while Garrett Kingston chalked up his third save. Josh Desai (0-3) took the loss despite striking out 11 batters in his five innings.

Roland Mendez (2-0) got the win and Junior Montero the save, when the Middlesex Expos beat the Reading Bulldogs 5-2 at Brandeis University. Richie Williams hit his first homer of the year to lead the Expos. Todd Stawiecki drove in both of Reading’s runs.

On Thursday the Chiefs visit the Bulldogs in Lexington at 7:00 PM and Expos and Americans clash at Morelli Field at 7:30 PM.

Bulldogs Beat Expos, Selima’s 4 RBI Leads Blue Sox Past Maddogs

The Reading Bulldogs scored three times in the first then added three more in bottom of the sixth, overcoming a 4-3 Middlesex Expos lead, to come away with a 6-4 victory in Lexington on Tuesday night. Todd Stawiecki had a two run homer and Brendan Albert (double) had two hits for the Bulldogs. Luke Butler (2-0) got the win while Greg Gentile recorded his third save, striking out two batters in the seventh.

At Maplewood, Andrew Selima drove in four of Lexington’s five runs when the Blue Sox beat the Malden Maddogs 5-3. Borja Jones Berasaluce (1-0) grabbed the win with 2.2 innings of hitless relief and Manny Delcarmen picked up the save.
Joe Klingensmith had a two run homer for the Maddogs. Rob Carrillo (2-3) struck out seven in his five innings but took the loss.

A full ICL slate is on tap for Wednesday. The Blue Sox visit the Melrose Americans at Morelli at 7:30 PM, the Andre Chiefs host the Maddogs at Maplewood at 8:00 PM, and the Bulldogs and Expos meet in a rematch at Brandeis University at 8:15 PM.

Solomon & Boyle Power Bulldogs to 17-7 Win, Expos Beat Maddogs 4-1

Patrick Solomon had a homer and five RBI’s and Ryan Boyle homered and drove in three runs to lead the Reading Bulldogs to a 17-7 win over the Melrose Americans at Lexington High. Cole Velis (3-2) struck out six in four innings to grab the win. Jackson Stanton hit a solo homer and Cory Bright, with a double and single, had two RBI’s for the Americans.

Matt Josselyn (1-2) got the win and David Kerns picked up a three inning save when the Middlesex Expos knocked off the Malden Maddogs 4-1 at Maplewood. Leon Paulino hit his first homer of the season for the Expos. Jack McLaughlin (0-2) took the loss.

The ICL now heads into its annual Fourth of July break. League play will resume next Tuesday, July 6.
