Blue Sox Beat Americans, Maddogs Over Expos 16-9

Josue Feliciano’s single to right drove in Pat Casserly with the go-ahead run in the fourth as the Lexington Blue Sox defeated the Melrose Americans 5-2 on Tuesday night in Lexington. Julian Alvarez (double) and D.J. Johnson (single) drove in runs in the first inning for a 2-0 Blue Sox lead. Jake Elbeery in the fifth and Eric LeBreaux in the sixth closed out the scoring with solo home runs for the Blue Sox. Americans Cory Bright and Aidan Barry had RBI singles in the third to knot the score at 2-2. Pat McGowan (2-2) earned his second win with a five inning, eight strikeout outing. Harper Flint (1-1) started for Melrose and took the loss. Flint went 4.1 innings, gave up eight hits, four runs and struck out four.

In Tuesday’s other game, the Malden Maddogs beat the Sabertooth Expos in a 16-9 slugfest at Maplewood. More info on the this game soon.

Dunphy, Chiefs Blank Blue Sox, Maddogs Beat Bulldogs

Veteran lefty Tim Dunphy (4-2) tossed six innings of four-hit ball to lead the Andre Chiefs to a 4-0 shutout win over the Lexington Blue Sox at Maplewood on Monday night. First inning RBI’s from Teddy Dziuba and Andrew Caulfield and Joe Bova’s third inning two-run homer provided the evening’s offense. Dunphy, who recorded his 63rd win in a Chiefs’ uniform, struck out three and threw only 56 pitches in his six innings. Paul Frisoli made his season debut and in the seventh and got the Blue Sox side in order. Steve Bangs (3-1) suffered his first loss of the season. V Desai had two of  Lexington’s four hits.

Sabertooth Expos

Expos Beat Maddogs, 8-3

Matt Consigli, Leon Paulino, and Ethan Hillenberg had two RBI’s each to lead the Sabertooth Expos to an 8-3 win over the Malden Maddogs at Maplewood. The game was originally scheduled to be played at Trum Field in Somerville but moved due to wet grounds at that location.

Josh Roberge (1-0) threw the first five innings to pick up the win. Roberge allowed one run, just three hits, and struck out five. Bladamir Ramirez went the final two frames for the Expos.

The ICL is off on Saturday. Play resumes on Sunday with the Andre Chiefs visiting the Melrose Americans at Morelli Field starting at 4:00 PM.

Chiefs Rally Past Blue Sox, Expos Beat Bulldogs, 6-3, Friday’s Game Switched to Maplewood

UPDATED 2:45 PM- DUE TO WET GROUNDS AT TRUM FIELD, TONIGHT’S GAME BETWEEN THE MADDOGS AND THE EXPOS HAS BEEN SWITCHED TO 8:00 PM AT MAPLEWOOD.

The Andre Chiefs scored two runs in the sixth, then added three more in the top of the seventh, to come from behind and beat the Lexington Blue Sox 7-5 in Lexington on Thursday night. Chris Klein and Nick Valdario each had two RBI’s for the Chiefs and Teddy Dziuba went a perfect 3-3. Evan Walsh (2-1) went the distance, striking out seven, to get the win. Julian Alvarez and Jean Carlos Ramirez both homered for the Blue Sox.

At Maplewood, Nick Johnson (4-0) struck out 12 batters to lead the Sabertooth Expos to a 6-3 win over the Lexington Bulldogs.

One ICL game is on the schedule for Friday when the Expos host the Malden Maddogs at Trum Field in Somerville starting at 8:00 PM.

Caulfield, Richard Lead Chiefs, Alvarez & Johnson Homer in Blue Sox Win

Andrew Caulfield had a homer and double and drove in four runs to lead the Andre Chiefs to a 9-7 win over the Lexington Bulldogs at Maplewood on Wednesday night. The Chiefs jumped out to a 7-0 first inning lead only to see the Bulldogs tie the game up at 7-7 with a run in the second and six more in the top of the fourth. Miles Reid and Teddy Dziuba each had three hits and an RBI and John Baptista added a solo homer for the Chiefs. Lefty Jonathan Richard (2-0) slammed the door over the final three innings, allowing no runs while striking out three.

At Morelli Field, Julian Alvarez and D.J. Johnson hit back-to-back homers, to close out a five run third inning, and propel the Lexington Blue Sox to a 9-4 win over the Melrose Americans. Jake Elbeery tripled to drive in two runs before the Alvarez and Johnson homers. Elbeery, Alvarez and Bryan Acosta each drove in two runs for the Blue Sox. Starter Jack Swarbrick pitched three scoreless one-hit innings. Junior Pena (1-0) followed with a scoreless frame and picked up his first win of 2023. Cory Bright and Nick Giangregorio each had two-run doubles to drive in the four Melrose runs.

On Thursday, the Bulldogs visit the Sabertooth Expos at Maplewood and the Blue Sox host the Chiefs in Lexington. Both games are scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM.

Chiefs Beat Maddogs 9-5, Libby Leads Americans to 11-7 Win Over Bulldogs

Ryan Noone (2-3) drove in three runs to lead the Andre Chiefs to a 9-5 win over the Malden Maddogs at Maplewood on Tuesday night. Miles Reid and Joe Bova each had two hits, a double, and drove in two runs for the Chiefs. Tim Dunphy (3-2) went 5.1 innings, striking out four, to gain the win.

In Lexington, Ian Libby had a huge night with a homer, double, and four RBI’s, to give the Melrose Americans an 11-7 victory over the Bulldogs. Aidan Barry added two RBI’s and David Hunter and Jack Beverly each had two hits for the Americans. Chris Mitchell (1-2) went 4.1 innings for the win. Mitchell got relief help from Bobby Tramondozzi who worked the final 2.2 innings, striking out three.

In Wednesday’s action, the Americans battle the Lexington Blue Sox at Morelli Field at 7:30 PM and the Chiefs host the Bulldogs at Maplewood at 8:00 PM.

Monday’s Expos-Chiefs and Maddogs-Blue Sox Both Postponed

Today’s heavy rain has wiped out the evening’s ICL slate.

Both the Sabertooth Expos at Andre Chiefs and the Malden Maddogs at Lexington Blue Sox have been postponed.

No make up dates have been announced as yet.

Melrose Americans

Barry, Beverly Lead Americans to 12-5 Sunday Win

Aidan Barry and Jack Beverly had three RBI’s each to lead the Melrose Americans to a 12-5 win over the Malden Maddogs at Morelli Field on Sunday afternoon.

John Jennings went a perfect 3-3, Ted Giardina had two hits including a solo homer, and Shawn Nestor and Ian Libby each had a couple of singles, to pace the Melrose 16-hit offense.

Mike Nestor (2-0) struck out nine batters in his four innings to get the win. David Hunter (2 innings, 3 K’s) and Ryan Dolan finished up for the Americans.
Ben Croteau (0-2) took the loss for the Maddogs who suffered their first defeat in their last four games.

On Monday, weather permitting, the Andre Chiefs host the Sabertooth Expos at Maplewood and the Maddogs visit the Lexington Blue Sox at LHS. Both games are scheduled to begin at 8:00 PM.

 

Maddogs Take 3rd Straight, Americans Win 9-3

Sam Browning went 3-3, including a double and triple, and knocked in two runs to lead the Malden Maddogs to a 7-3 win over the Blue Sox on Friday night in Lexington. For the Maddogs it was their third straight win after starting the season 0-10. Damien Brown scored twice and Ben Croteau added two RBI’s for the Maddogs. Ryan Rametta pitched four innings for the win. He scattered seven hits, allowed two runs and had four K’s.. Anthony Panza worked the final three innings to record  his first save. Joe Auger and Austin Masel each had a couple of hits and scored a run for the Blue Sox.

At Morelli Field, the heart of of the Melrose Americans’ order, consisting of Corey Bright (3-4, 3 R’s, RBI), John Jennings (2-4, 2 R’s, RBI) and Aidan Barry (2-3, double, 1 R, 3 RBI’s) went a combined 7 for 11 to lead them to a 9-3 win over the Lexington Bulldogs. Greg Johnson (1-1) threw 2.1 innings of scoreless ball, in relief of starter Will Gindel (4.2 innings, 7 K’s), to grab his first win of the season. Drew Crowley (1-2) took the loss.

There are no ICL games scheduled on Saturday.

The Maddogs visit the Americans at 4:00 PM (Morelli Field) in Sunday’s only game.

 

Maddogs Beat Americans 6-3, Bulldogs Edge Chiefs in 8th

Rich Carrillo got the win and Brian Pelrine picked up the save when the Malden Maddogs beat the Melrose Americans 6-3 on Thursday at Maplewood. The Maddogs scored all six suns in the bottom of the third inning. For Carrillo (2-4), he followed up his June 27th no-hitter against the Lexington Blue Sox by going six innings and striking out nine.

In Lexington, Ryan Boyle’s single in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the Lexington Bulldogs a 10-9 extra inning win over the Andre Chiefs.

On Friday, the Bulldogs visit the Americans at Morelli at 7:30 PM and the Blue Sox host the Maddogs in Lexington at 8:00 PM.
