Bulldogs and Expos Take Monday Wins
Gabe Van Emon followed up his 16 K no-hitter last week with a five inning 14 strikeout performance to lead the Reading Bulldogs to a 5-3 win over the Blue Sox in Lexington. At Maplewood, starter David Kerns and reliver Shawn Carlson pitched the Middlesex Exops to a 5-4 win over the Andre Chiefs. The Expos jumped out to a 5-1 third inning lead and held on for the victory. Arnulfo Gonzalez for the Expos and Andrew Caulfield for the Chiefs each homered in the game. Carlson was dominant in picking up the save striking out five of the last six batters he faced. Tim Dunphy (2-1) went the route for the Chiefs and took the loss.
Both the Chiefs and the Blue Sox will look to get back into the win column when the two teams meet in Lexington tonight. In Tuesday’s other scheduled game, the Melrose Americans will visit the Malden Maddogs at Maplewood. Both games will start at 8:00 PM.
