Barry Leads Americans to 10-2 Win, Maddogs Win 4th Straight

Aidan Barry had a homer, double, and four RBI’s, to lead the Melrose Americans to a 10-2 win over the Lexington Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon at Morelli Field. Leadoff man Pat Costigan added a double and three RBI’s and Ian Libby had two hits and scored twice for the Americans. Jordan Gottesman (2-0) fired 5.2 innings, striking out 11 batters, to gain the win.

The Malden Maddogs overcame a 6-4 deficit, scoring three runs in the top of the sixth inning, to beat the Blue Sox 7-6 in Lexington. For the Maddogs it was their fourth consecutive win. Marco Carillo (1-0), in relief of A.J. Ortega, went 3.2 innings to record his first win of the season. Robbie Cobb (0-3) took the loss.

On Monday, the Andre Chiefs and Maddogs meet at Maplewood and the Americans and Blue Sox tangle in Lexington. Both games will start at 8:00 PM.
