Americans Beat Chiefs 4-3 in Walk-off, Bulldogs’ Velis Blanks Maddogs, 5-0
The Americans broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the seventh inning to walk-off with a 4-3 win over the Andre Chiefs at Morelli Field. Cory Bright and Pat Costigan led the Americans’ nine hit offense with three hits each. Nick Valdario had three of the Chiefs’ nine hits. Bobby Tramondozzi (1-0) pitched the seventh inning and picked up the win in relief of starter Chris Mitchell (4.1 innings) and Ryan Joyce (1.2 innings). Cal Carroll (0-2) worked the final 2.2 innings and took the loss. Chiefs’ starter Evan Walsh went the first four innings for the visitors.
In Lexington, Cole Velis spun a complete game three hit shutout to lead the Reading Bulldogs to a 5-0 win over the Malden Maddogs. Velis (1-2) struck out seven and walked three. Graham Seed (double) and Evan O’Rourke (triple) each had three hits and Jack Morin added two hits, including a double, and drove in a couple of runs for Reading. Matt Tyman (0-2) gave up six hits in five innings and took the loss.
On Thursday, the Lexington Blue Sox host the Maddogs at 8:00 PM and the Americans visit the Middlesex Expos at Brandeis University at 8:15 PM.
