Maddogs Defeat Americans 6-2, Other Games Postponed

Jared MacDonald and Otto McLauglin had two RBI’s apiece to lead the Malden Maddogs to a 6-2 win over the Melrose Americans at Maplewood. Zak Whitney (1-1) allowed just two hits in five innings to get the win. Matt Decarney worked a scoreless sixth while Brock Haynes chalked up his second save in the seventh. Aidan Barry had a two RBI triple for Melrose. All other of Tuesday’s ICL games were postponed rain.

Melrose Beats Blue Sox 3-1, Chiefs Handle Sabers

Brandon McMahon (2-0) and Alex Parisi combined on a four-hitter to get the Americans past the Blue Sox 3-1 at Morelli Field. Owen Duggan drove in all three of the Melrose runs. Ar Maplewood, Matt Doherty (1-1) picked up his first ICL win with complete game four hitter when the Andre Chiefs rallied past the Stoneham Sabers 4-2. Shortstop Nate Witkowski drove in two runs for the Chiefs. Doherty struck out nine.

Libretto & Bulldogs Late HR’s Give Bulldogs Dramatic Win

Vince Libretto tied the game with a three run, two out homer in the seventh and Reuben Siegel won it with a solo shot in the bottom off ninth to give the Bulldogs a 7-6 win over the Stoneham Sabers in Lexington on Sunday. Nigel Cross (1-1) threw four strong inning in relief to grab the win. Libretto had four RBI’s and Brett Stone added three hits for the Bulldogs. Nelson Correa went 3-4 and Angelo Collucci and Emanuel Cepada each drove in two runs for the Sabers.  

City of Medford to Remember Chiefs and ICL Legend Fred Knox on Sunday at Playstead

(Medford, MA) A great day is planned for Sunday, June 8 at Playstead Park in West Medford to honor and remember former Medford High Baseball Coach and ex-Chiefs and Intercity League legend Fred Knox with a monument. Knox passed away last year. Many Medford High and ICL Hall of Famers will join the Knox Family, Fred’s former players, teammates, and friends for the dedication ceremony which begins at 1:00 PM. Everyone is invited to come down and join in the festivities. Chiefs Beat Sabers 6-3 in Friday’s Only Game

Yariel Salanis had a homer and three RBI’s to lead the Andre Chiefs to a 6-3 win over the Stoneham Sabers at Maplewood. A.J. Rourke (1-0) allowed just one earned run in four innings to get the win while Kobe Seelong recorded the three inning save. Jacob Deziel chipped in with a RBI double. Emanuel Cepada had two hits and drove in a couple of runs for Stoneham. Caden Smith (0-2) struck out eight in his five innings but was tagged with the loss….There are no ICL games scheduled for Saturday…..

Melrose at Lexington is suspended due to darkness

It was the night the lights went out in Lexington. Power outages had been happening all day in Lexington as the hottest day of the year put a strain on the power grid. The lights went out 2 – 3 times before the game started. Darkness took over at least four more times, including the one that caused the game to be called. The game was finally stopped in the bottom of the third with two outs and a Lexington runner on first at 8:47 pm. Fortunately for both teams, the lights never went out during a play or pitch, but always in between plays or innings. The outages lasted between 30 – 60 seconds. Lexington had struck first scoring a run in the bottom of the second. AJ Lysko led off the inning with a single. He moved to third on two infield outs and then scored on a wild pitch. Melrose’s  Owen Duggan started the third with a leadoff double. The next batter Ryan Bourgeois singled to right and quickly knotted the score at 1-1. As of press time no date has been set for the game to finish.

Americans & Bulldogs Get Wednesday Wins

Owen Duggan went 3-4, with a triple and four RBI’s, to lead the Melrose Americans to a 14-2 win over the Middlesex Expos at Ferullo Field. Chris Klein and John Jennings each chipped in with two hits for Melrose.  Nick Bamforth (2-0) went four innings to get the win………At Maplewood, the Lexington Bulldogs got RBI’s from Vince Libretto and Shane Costello on the way to a 3-2 win over the Andre Chiefs. Coley Schafer (1-0) worked three scoreless innings out of the bullpen to record the win while Nigel Cross blanked the Chiefs in the seventh for his first save……..The Malden Maddogs host the Bulldogs and the Americans visit the Blue Sox in Lexington in tonight’s action. Both games will start at 8:00 PM……….

Maddogs Beat Sabers 8-7 in Only Tuesday Contest

The Malden Maddogs edged the Stoneham Sabers 8-7 in the only ICL game that was played on Tuesday. Marco Zirpolo went 4-4 and Colin Kinsella drove in three runs to lead the Malden offense. Austin Brune had a double and four RBI and Emanuel Cepada and Tommy Shimchak each added two hits for the Sabers. Brian Pelrine (1-0) got the win in relief of starter Matt Decarney while Brock Haynes chalked up the save.

Chiefs and Blue Sox Win in Monday Action

The Andre Chiefs got three RBI’ s each from veteran shortstop Nate Witkowski and Michael Soares on the way to a 14-2 win over the Malden Maddogs at Maplewood. Yariel Salinas (2-4, homer) and Byron Woodman each drove in two runs for the Chiefs. WPI southpaw Dominic Monico (1-0) struck and six and allowed just two hits in five innings to pick up his first ICL win……….The Lexington Blue Sox got a four inning, one hit outing from Matt Draper (1-1) to lead them to a 4-0 win over the Middlesex Expos at Ferullo Field in Woburn. Julian Alvarez drove in three of Lexington’s runs with a first inning double and a third inning sacrifice fly. Josh Becker, with two scoreless innings, and Luke Marshall, who worked the seventh, kept the shutout intact for the Sox. Lexington pitching combined to strikeout a dozen Expos batters…… On Tuesday the Stoneham Sabers host the Maddogs at Maplewood starting at 8:00 PM…….

Sabers Edge Americans, Expos at Bulldogs PPD

The Stoneham Sabers jumped out to an 8-0 second inning lead then survived a seven run Melrose sixth inning to hold on and beat the Anericans 9-8 at Recreation Park on Sunday afternoon. Nicholas Genese (1-0) tossed five strong innings to grab the win while Syed Ali picked up the save. Lucas Arias led the Stoneham offense with three hits that included two doubles and a couple of RBI’s. Owen Duggan had two of the Americans six hits……..The Middlesex Expos at Lexington Bulldogs game was postponed due to wet grounds……On Monday, the Expos host the Lexington Blue Sox at Ferullo Field in Woburn and the Malden Maddogs visit the Andre Chiefs at Maplewood/Malden Catholic. Both games will start at 8:00 PM……
