Blue Sox Shutout Expos 12-0, Americans Win 5th Straight
Southpaw Ryan O’Rourke (5-0) allowed just four hits and struck out 11 in six innings when the Blue Sox cruised past the Middlesex Expos 12-0 in Lexington on Wednesday night. The Blue Sox broke open a 2-0 game when they scored five times in each of the fifth and sixth innings. Dahiandy Johnson had a three-run homer in the fifth and Ryan Grace added a two RBI double in the sixth. Dan Shaw (0-1) took the loss.
In Melrose, the Americans erased a 3-1 fifth inning Andre Chiefs lead and went on to a 6-4 win at Morelli Field. Pat Costigan homered, Keenan O’Connor had two RBI’s, and leadoff man Bobby Losanno added a couple of hits for the Americans who won their fifth straight. Nick Colucci (1-0), in relief of Brendan McSorley, worked 1.2 innings to get the win while Bobby Tramondozzi chalked up his third save of the season in the seventh. Nate Witkowski (3-4) had two doubles and three RBI’s for the Chiefs. Graham Seed (2-2) suffered the loss.
On Thursday the Chiefs host the Expos at Maplewood (Malden Catholic) at 8:00 PM in the only ICL on the agenda.
