Dunphy Pitches Chiefs to 1-0 Win Over Middlesex Expos

Lefty Tim Dunphy (1-2) threw a complete game three-hitter when the Andre Chiefs edged the Middlesex Expos 1-0 at Maplewood on Thursday night. Adam Johnson scored the game’s only run in the bottom of the fourth when he reached on an error and scored on Joe Bova’s RBI single. Dunphy faced just three batters in six of the seven innings as the Chiefs turned two double plays and picked a runner off. Ryan Qualey (1-1) was the hard luck loser as he allowed just two hits, struck out nine, and gave up one unearned run.

On Friday, the Reading Bulldogs host the Melrose Americans in a make-up game at Austin Prep at 6:45 PM and Expos host Alibrandis at Trum Field in Somerville at 8:30 PM.
