Corliss Leads Blue Sox by Expos, Parra HR in 7th Rallies Chiefs Past Americans

The Lexington Blue Sox turned around a 3-0 first inning deficit and came away with a 6-5 win over the Sabertooth Expos on Wednesday evening at Maplewood. Craig Corliss’ 2-run homer gave Lexington a 6-3 lead in the top of the sixth and the Blue Sox hung on for the win. Corliss doubled and scored the Sox second run in the second inning. He closed out the 4-run sixth with his second homer of year. Pat Casserly singled to drive in the first two Blue Sox runs. Jake Elbeery added two hits, a run and an RBI. Pat McGowan (1-2) picked up his first win of 2023. Ryan O’Rourke struck out five in his two innings of work and recorded his first save. Leon Paulino’s 2-run homer in the first gave the Expos a 3-0 lead. Dionys Quezada hit a 2-run dinger in the 6th to cut the lead to 6-5.  Jario Vasquez (1-1) pitched two innings in relief and took the loss.

Juan Parra delivered a one-out three run homer in the top of the seventh to propel the Andre Chiefs to a come from behind 4-3 win over the Melrose Americans at Morelli Field. A Joe Bova double and Chris Klein single got the Chiefs going in the seventh before Parra delivered his second round tripper of the season to put them in front. Teddy Dziuba gave a the Chiefs a brief 1-0 lead in the top of the first scoring Parra, who had walked, on a sacrifice fly. Owen Duggan, Nick Giangregorio, and Shawn Nestor, all had RBI singles that staked the Americans a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning. A.J. Rourke (2-0) worked 2.2 scoreless innings, with three K’s, in relief of starter Tim Dunphy to grab the win. Closer Bobby Tramondozzi (0-1) took the loss.

On Thursday, the Chiefs visit the Bulldogs in Lexington at 7:00 PM and the Americans will play the Malden Maddogs at Maplewood at 8:00 PM.
