Maddogs Take 3rd Straight, Americans Win 9-3
| Sam Browning went 3-3, including a double and triple, and knocked in two runs to lead the Malden Maddogs to a 7-3 win over the Blue Sox on Friday night in Lexington. For the Maddogs it was their third straight win after starting the season 0-10. Damien Brown scored twice and Ben Croteau added two RBI’s for the Maddogs. Ryan Rametta pitched four innings for the win. He scattered seven hits, allowed two runs and had four K’s.. Anthony Panza worked the final three innings to record his first save. Joe Auger and Austin Masel each had a couple of hits and scored a run for the Blue Sox.
At Morelli Field, the heart of of the Melrose Americans’ order, consisting of Corey Bright (3-4, 3 R’s, RBI), John Jennings (2-4, 2 R’s, RBI) and Aidan Barry (2-3, double, 1 R, 3 RBI’s) went a combined 7 for 11 to lead them to a 9-3 win over the Lexington Bulldogs. Greg Johnson (1-1) threw 2.1 innings of scoreless ball, in relief of starter Will Gindel (4.2 innings, 7 K’s), to grab his first win of the season. Drew Crowley (1-2) took the loss. There are no ICL games scheduled on Saturday. The Maddogs visit the Americans at 4:00 PM (Morelli Field) in Sunday’s only game.
