Sabers and Expos Open Inter-League Play with Father’s Day Wins

The Stoneham Sabers came from behind three times and took an eventual 9-8 extra inning win over the Al Thomas A’s of the Yawkey League at Recreation Park on Sunday. It was the opening game of inter-league play.  Austin Brune’s bunt single in the bottom of the ninth gave Stoneham the win. Nick Bartalini was a single away from the cycle as he led the Sabers’ offense with homer, double, triple and two RBI’s. Bryan Beneke, Tommy Shimchak and Angelo Colucci all had two hits for Stoneham.
