Voca Grand Slam Paces Bulldogs, Cepada Single Gives Sabers Walk-Off Win Over Expos
Jay Voca hit a grand slam and the Bulldogs used four pitchers to beat the Malden Maddogs 9-4 in Lexington on Sunday evening. Peyton Heisner (1-0) struck out seven in 3.1 innings to record the win.
Emanuel Cepada’s walk off single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the Stoneham Sabers a 3-2 win over the Middlesex Expos at Recreation Park. It was a special moment for Cepada as his grandfather Orlando Cepada, an MLB Hall of Famer, passed away on 6/28/24. Julian Murray was terrific for the Sabers, tossing 6.1 strong innings. However, Murray earned a tough luck no decision. Nick Powers came in and struck out two batters, to earn the win. Powers also had an RBI single. Angelo Colucci led the Saber offense with two hits and a RBI.
Tyler Normandie had an RBI triple for the Expos.
On Monday, the Melrose Americans meet the Expos at East Boston Stadium and the Sabers and the Andre Chiefs tangle at Maplewood. Both games are scheduled to start at 8:00 PM.
